This project, sponsored by the Ferring pharmaceuticals, involves studying the mechanism of antagonism of a selective prostaglandin receptor antagonist. The project will entail standard receptor pharmacology techniques including myography, radioligand binding assays, confocal microscopy, IP3 concentration measurements, as well as RNAseq analysis of gene expression.

You will participate in the planning, design and execution of innovative research into myometrial physiology and will have a real interest in the challenges of modern experimental research methodologies in pharmacology. Experience of theoretical analysis of 7TM receptors will be an advantage.

**JOB PURPOSE**

To undertake research into the mechanism of action of a selective prostaglandin receptor antagonist. To undertake classical pharmacological studies into the effects of prostaglandin antagonists on myometrial smooth muscle

**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**

**Research**

1. To strengthen the pharmacology research core of the Centre for Early Life in order to support its research strategy.

2. To undertake detailed experiments to understand the mechanism of effect of a prostaglandin antagonist on myometrial contractility.

3. To manage research projects to an industrial standard of GLP, including supervising PhD and MD students, other research students and support staff engaged in research.

4. To publish the results of research and scholarship in peer-reviewed journals.

5. To attend and present research findings and papers at academic and professional conferences and contribute to the external visibility and reputation of the research group and the Warwick Medical School.

**Teaching**

6. To participate in the training of research students and others, through the teaching activities of the Centre for Early Life.

**Administration and Other Activities**

7. To undertake such specific departmental roles and management functions as may be reasonably required.

8. To attend departmental meetings and to participate (where necessary) in other committees and working groups within the department, the faculty and the University.

9. To participate in relevant professional activities.

10. To engage in continuous professional development.

11. To undertake external commitments which reflect well and enhance the reputation of the University.
