Newport, United Kingdom Isle of Wight NHS Trust Full time

We are recruiting fora Neonatal Risk Governance Lead who wishes to join #TeamIOWNHS. You should share our passion and drive to ensure that our patients receive quality and compassionate care and work with us to ensure the Trust continues its journey towards “great people, great place”.

As a designated Level 1 Neonatal unit we are dedicated to the delivery of high quality, family centred neonatal care for sick newborn and preterm babies from 32 weeks gestation. In addition, we provide critical care and stabilisation for sick newborn and preterm babies of any gestation prior to their transfer to tertiary neonatal services for on-going critical care. We also work in conjunction with Maternity services to prevent the unnecessary separation of babies and their parents, providing care for babies who require additional support, but do not need admission to the Neonatal unit, in a dedicated Transitional Care facility.

Our new Neonatal Risk Governance Lead will be responsible for leading investigations of significant events and serious incidents, producing and monitoring action plans. There will be an expectation that you will provide support and information for staff to learn from incidents, taking into consideration human factors, route cause analysis pathways and assurance that change in practice has been embedded to prevent re-occurrence.

As a visible and approachable role model, you will promote and facilitate a culture where clinical governance and patient safety are integrated into the care and wellbeing of all patients, staff, and families, promoting a culture of participation, openness, and accountability. You must be an excellent communicator, well organised, self-motivated and be able to work well on your own initiative and as part of a team. You will need to have a flexible working manner, possess effective time management skills and the ability to prioritise your own workload.

Provides support and information for staff to learn from incidents, taking into consideration human factors, route cause analysis pathways and assurance that change in practice has been embedded.

Leads and co-ordinates the governance agenda alongside the Neonatal Matron, Lead Consultant and Maternity Governance Lead.

Through effective leadership ensures the clinical multidisciplinary team deliver a safe, effective, responsive, caring, and well-led service where compassion is embedded, and a positive patient experience is achieved.

Provides professional leadership and acts as a professional role model.

Works across organisational and professional boundaries.

To promote a culture where clinical governance and patient safety are integrated into the care and wellbeing of all patients, staff, and families, promoting a culture of participation, openness, and accountability.

The Isle of Wight NHS Trust is the only integrated acute, community, mental health and ambulance health care provider in England. We serve a population of approximately 150,000 residents, making the services we offer variable and personalised with a flexible approach to our service users.

Working for our Trust brings a variety of benefits, including an onsite day nursery, cycle-to-work scheme, discounts at local businesses and gyms, and the opportunity to hire Trust’s beach hut in Ryde. We offer many flexible working opportunities, speak to us about how we might be able to accommodate a flexible working arrangement for you and if it works for the service, we will do our best to make it work for you.
