**Part-Time Family Group Co-ordinator**

**Hours split between school term-time and non-term time in line with Bracknell Forest Council school holiday dates.**

Term-Time Hours: (39 weeks): 24 hours/week (4 days)

Non-Term-Time Hours (13 weeks): (12 hours/week)

(Hybrid working in place)

We believe that the early years make the biggest impact on a child’s life. Home-Start Bracknell has been providing targeted early intervention to struggling families for the past 29 years. We recruit, train and support volunteers from the local community who help families to build on their strengths and increase their potential to improve their lives.

As a Family Group Co-Ordinator, you will develop, lead and manage the group’s activities as well as work with parents to review and assess their needs. You will work closely with the Home-Start team, volunteers, and local partners to provide nonjudgmental support to struggling families.

We want to hear from you if you have;
- An understanding of the needs of families and children
- Ability to plan and provide developmentally appropriate play activities that promote children’s learning
- Worked or have experience in supporting families / early years settings
- Ability to develop and manage groups
- Sensitivity and excellent communication skills
- Team player who is self-motivated with an ability to inspire others
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures, including being able to recognise signs that would raise concern.
- Are a car driver (use of a car is essential)

**Purposes of the job**
- Maintaining high standards of practice in supporting families within the ethos of Home-Start
- Ensuring the effective day to day management of work with families and volunteers in accordance with the Home-Start Memorandum & Articles of Association, the Home-Start Standards & Methods of Practice, the Home-Start Agreement, and Quality Assurance Standards
- Ensuring equality of opportunity, fairness and diversity in all aspects of the scheme’s work
- Ensuring good child protection practice in all aspects of the scheme’s work
- To take responsibility for providing leadership and management to the Group Workers team

**Main responsibilities**:
**Management**
- Ensure all Home-Start policies and procedures are adhered to and implemented in all aspects of service delivery
- Ensure appropriate systems are in place for review and continuous improvement in relation to work with families
- Supporting the scheme in ensuring effective administration and monitoring
- Supervising the work of the volunteers, ensuring they receive effective supervision, direction and opportunities for development

**Supporting families through Group Work**
- Responsibility for delivering the **Play and Learn Group and the Communications Group (run at the Willows Family Hub)** to families with children aged 1-5 years.
- Planning and facilitating the rolling programme of the groups, ensuring the programmes are resourced, risk assessed and documented
- Managing group volunteers, providing induction, supervision, training and support.
- Receiving and evaluating referrals and undertaking assessment with families, including home-visits were necessary.
- Contribute to the safety and wellbeing of children, ensuring that children are treated sensitively and with respect
- Understand the needs of children and ensure good safeguarding practice
- Plan and provide developmentally appropriate and engaging play activities and session content to encourage positive interaction between group members and between parents and their children.
- Ensuring group support to families is reviewed at regular intervals during and at the end of support, in line with monitoring requirements using outcome measurement tools.
- Collect monitoring and evaluation information and statistics
- Knowledge and understanding of cultural and religious diversity

**Working in Partnership**
- Work collaboratively with local stakeholders and Home-Start colleagues, to devise a programme of group sessions that responds to local need and gaps in services
- Develop strong working relationships with partner organisations to ensure our service is effective and inclusive. Use these networks to help promote Home-Start’s groups and services
- Develop partnerships with other services to provide opportunities for external agencies to offer advice/information to families within the group setting, and support families to increase their connections in the local community
- Ensure appropriate liaison with referrers and other professionals

**Monitoring, evaluation and service development**
- Maintain systems for monitoring and evaluation of group sessions
- Work with the Scheme Manger to inform the development of new monitoring or evaluation systems as needed
