The purpose of the business development manager is to source, develop and secure new land freight from potential customers within the assigned region local Basildon /Essex area
Main Tasks
- Deliver 3 x salary of gross profit or a set amount of volume in new business
- Close an average minimum of 4-6 new customers each month.
- Maintain a healthy pipeline of 'A,B,C,' level target accounts with a sales revenue in excess of £4m. All target business should have a minimum sales revenue potential in excess of £25k p.a.
- Make a minimum of 5 face to face meetings per week and 5 virtual meetings per week. Adjusted for holidays and other events.
- Identify new potential 'A' customers. Build knowledge and relationships to be included in formal RFQ's, work closely with Tender management and Product management teams to submit competitive, tailored proposals.
- Diligently follow-up on all incoming sales leads and provide the originator detailed feedback within 30 days or a holding message within 5 working days on the status of the lead
- Gain all information from the customers on Customs requirements and incoterms, selling Schenker brokerage services
- Regular meetings and dialogue with the Head of Land Sales and BM's on competitor news/developments and detailed feedback on issues preventing new business wins
- Have regular dialogue with Land Business Unit inc Pricing & Solution Design, Direct Road Brokerage, Revenue & Product Management on target accounts and opportunities being worked on.
- Make regular JSV's with Basildon Branch Team and Product Management
- Proven sales track record of gaining new major business, on-boarding and successfully working to and exceeding Sales Targets
- Excellent relationship building skills, identifying and prospecting new business opportunities and ability to close successfully
- Ability to prioritize, organize and manage time efficiently is essential
- Significant industry knowledge within Land
- Good understanding of Customs Clearance and Incoterms
