Our Switchboard, Helpdesk and reception are the main communications hubs of Kingston Hospital where members of the public and all colleagues across the Trust are able to contact our operators and be directed to the appropriate ward, department, or employee within the hospital or contact our operators requesting anything from a porter to assist with patient transport, to an engineer to fix a leaking roof. Working as part of the ISS Communications Team will allow you to gain an in-depth knowledge into the essential services provided by ISS and the role it plays into helping with the daily functional operations of a Hospital Trust. This role provides a vital role in helping with the daily functional operations of Kingston Hospital. This position will also be required to provide cover for the main reception of the hospital.

We currently have a Permanent Vacancy for the position of Communications Assistant, to join the ISS Communications Department. The successful applicant will be required to be available to work any 7 days in the week, (including days, afternoons, evenings and nights). The contracted hours will be 37.5 per week, worked over 5 days. Living in close proximity to the hospital is advised as additional shifts occasionally become available at short notice

Applicants must possess the following skills:

- Ensure confidentiality, privacy and dignity is maintained at all times in accordance with the Data Protection Act and in line with Company and Trust policy, where appropriate.
- Excellent communication skills are essential.
- Input and dispatch Switchboard requests in line with quality and time specifications
- Answer incoming calls and face-to-face queries where required, promptly and in a polite manner, assisting callers and visitors in identifying the correct department/number and connecting calls or directing visitors accordingly. Completing appropriate records as required
- Undertake any duties deemed necessary in order to promote the effective and efficient operation of the department e.g. maintenance of appropriate contact details, bleep numbers and on call details.
