We are looking to recruit enthusiastic individuals committed to excellence in Geriatrics to join a pro-active team with an excellent clinical reputation, providing a range of services within the hospital and community. Our consultant team delivers high quality needs related services to frail and older patients wherever they are, using their knowledge and experience to lead and influence the development of services for the frail and elderly within the Trust and the community. You will also have an opportunity to gain valuable experience of service transformation and development.

**We offer an attractive package to include**:

- Named Mentor for the first year of employment to facilitate settling in to the new working environment
- Additional allocation of SPA time within job plan for the first 2 years allowing time for service development (typically 7.5:2.5 split between DCC and SPA time)

Duties & responsibilities
- To assist in the provision and development of a safe, effective and efficient geriatrics service and support Trust and Network, in the aim to provide the best possible care to patients
- Provision with Consultant colleagues of a service, with responsibility for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of illness, and the proper functioning of the department
- Cover for colleagues' annual leave and other authorised absences
- Out-of-hours responsibilities, including participation in the consultant on-call rota for General Internal Medicine and Geriatrics
- To participate in service development and business planning
- Professional supervision and management of junior medical staff
- Responsibilities for carrying out teaching, examination and accreditation duties as required and contributing to undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing medical education activity, locally and nationally
- Participating in medical audit, the Trust’s Clinical Governance processes and in CPD
- Managerial, including budgetary responsibilities where appropriate

You will be joining a well organised department providing a wide range of services at specialty and sub-specialty level. We work collaboratively and supportively, always looking to improve the care for frail, elderly patients.

Our services are based at King’s Mill Hospital, Newark Hospital and Mansfield Community Hospital, offering superb facilities for Geriatric inpatients and outpatient services.
