The Costello School, situated in Basingstoke, North Hampshire, is looking to appoint enthusiastic and highly motivated Learning Support Assistants. Owing to an increase in student numbers, we now have an opportunity for exceptional individuals to join our amazing team of LSAs.
Our recent Ofsted inspection judged us as **Good with Outstanding features**, and said that ‘ _Leaders, teachers and support staff work together as a tight-knit team to meet these pupils’ pastoral and academic needs very well. Good relationships between staff and pupils ensure typically calm, respectful behaviour across the school. Pupils enjoy school and feel happy and proud to be here._
Example of some of the role’s responsibilities:
- To provide support for the curriculum by working in-class with students
- Where necessary, to deliver one-to-one or small-group programmes
- To support students with extra literacy or numeracy work during registration periods
- To monitor and help students work towards their learning targets in the classroom
- To support students’ individual needs, which may involve reading information, notetaking/ scribing/organising/collecting work and explaining the lesson and homework tasks/exam arrangements/testing
- To support the teachers’ delivery of the curriculum by knowing how to make work more accessible for students
- To communicate concerns and news of progress with the SENDCO, SEND Department and teachers
- To attend such courses as will support professional development
