Tech Support Adviser
Together we are Trusted to Serve Scotland.
Most people don’t think too much about how clean water reaches their taps.
But Scottish Water does. In fact, it’s all we think about. Also waste water needs treated need to tell them its both. Some people have an aversion to working in sewage plants.
Want to join us? We're on the lookout for someone with good technical knowledge and a knack for solving problems to join us as Tech Support Adviser.
What you’ll do
You'll be the superhero of Electrical & Mechanical activities, supporting and delivering technical advice. Whether it's sorting out faults, upgrading fancy machinery, or just helping out with maintenance questions, you'll be the go-to person with a bias on Electrical Power Systems mainly at High Voltage.
You'll also be our Health and Safety champion, keeping an eye on practices and making sure everyone's playing it safe. Your mission? To supercharge our craft skills with the latest tech, and make sure our water and wastewater systems are as resilient as can be.
You will spend some time at the office, but you'll also be out and about on-site, making magic happen, being multi-skilled is your thing, especially when it comes to all things electrical.
You’ll be making technical talk easy for everyone, but you can also work your magic with spreadsheets and presentations.
What you’ll need
You'll need a full driving license and an HNC Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience in a similar role and good understanding of The Electricity at Work Act Regulations
You will also have project management experience and knowledge of Salesforce and Ellipse would be beneficial.
You want to stay ahead of the curve with the latest tech trends, and you have strong collaboration skills.
You will be trained to become an HV SAP - High Voltage Senior Authorised Person.
Looking out for you
While the work we do is important, we know it’s not the only thing that matters. That’s why we make sure you have everything you need to find a good work-life balance.
This role has some weekend working and standby requirements. But you’ll get plenty of time to recharge with 38 days of holiday every year (including public holidays). And you can even buy five more if you need a little extra time. You can also take time off to volunteer in your community.
When it comes to major life events we have family-friendly policies around adoption, maternity, and parental leave. And for the everyday? We embrace flexible working.
For your future, there’s our pension (the ‘know-what-you’ll-get-when-you-retire’ kind), and life assurance.
As for some nice extras? You can expect an annual company bonus. Not to mention access to SW Splash - handy rewards that can save you money on holidays, bills, and shopping.
The not-so-small print
The salary range for this role is £31,380 - £43,350 (depending on skills and experience).
There is no requirement to participate on a standby rota however ad hoc incident support will be required.
Job offers at Scottish Water are conditional, and will be confirmed on completion of our pre-employment screening, e.g. referencing, criminal record checks, license checks, etc. These checks are conducted on our behalf by a third party. Don’t worry - we’ll ask your permission before starting these checks.
Do you have any support needs?
