We are looking for a Level 3 Practitioner to join a private nursery based in Thame as a Quality and Performance Officer, the salary is £26,500 and there are many benefits as well as working with a great friendly team. The role is working 8 hours per day 44 weeks of the year.

As the Quality and Performance Officer, you will motivate the nursery team to work together by spending time in all rooms modelling and inspiring practitioners to deliver best practice. You will assist and support the Nursery Manager and Deputy Manager with the effective daily management of the nursery, ensuring all policies, procedures and Ofsted statutory requirements are maintained at all times.

In the absence of either the Manager or Deputy you will step up to run the nursery and be responsible for locking/unlocking the building when needed. You will assist with the planning of age appropriate, challenging and stimulating adult led activities, supporting staff to develop their confidence in delivering the curriculum.

You will provide the highest levels of care and attention to children ensuring their individual needs are met and communicate effectively with all members of the team, the children, their families and all users of the nursery. You will be a key person for a group of children and build strong relationships with them and their families. You will plan and observe children regularly, assessing and developing their learning to ensure they are progressing.

You will be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and their families and all visitors and users of the nursery. Take the role of Designated Safeguarding Lead in the absence of the Deputy and Nursery Manager. You will mentor and support apprentice Nursery Practitioners, unqualified Nursery Practitioners and students on placement, helping them fulfil their role and training requirements and encouraging them to achieve their career aspirations.

You will take an active role in leading professional development sessions at team meetings and Inset Days. You will lead the on-going completion and analysis of peer observations and contribute towards the professional development supervisions and appraisals of the childcare team.

Essential Skills

A sound understanding of child development.
Secure knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage framework and experience of delivering it.
A good knowledge of relevant Health and Safety, Environmental Health and Fire and Emergency regulations.
An understanding of the statutory and operational guidance from OFSTED.
