The Service is a key contributor to the prevention and early intervention/early help agenda for Lancashire County Council. The main purpose of the role is to initiate and develop relationships with 12- to 19-year-olds and up to 25-year-olds for young people with vulnerabilities. Working directly with targeted young people to enable them to broaden their horizons and involvement in positive activities. By designing and developing youth work responses underpinned by the 4 cornerstones of youth work, equality, participation, education and empowerment and delivery of the Youth Offer.

The focus of your work will be with vulnerable and at-risk groups to deliver preventative programmes, evidencing learning outcomes and delivering to targets. You will deliver projects and establish new initiatives which develop, with young people, stimulating and challenging youth work programmes. You will work in group settings and deliver one-to-one to identified individuals.

You will have the ability to quickly establish positive relationships with diverse groups of young people and partners, to respond flexibly to their needs and to the priorities of the Service. Good IT, organisation and communication skills are essential as you will need to record data on a management information system, meet targets, produce reports, and correspond with young people, parents, and partners.

You will deliver face to face work in accordance with JNC terms and conditions including residentials. You will be required to travel across the districts and at times across county so access to a vehicle is essential.

You will have a nationally recognised JNC qualification for Youth and Community Workers.
