**Job description**:
As the **Head of Digital Content** is accountable for the management and growth of the digital content hubs, which serve the medical and scientific communities with engaging digital content in the form of news, expert opinion pieces, webinars and more, as well as providing a pipeline of commercial opportunities for clients across the industry. As head of the digital department, the role includes the management of the digital editorial team.

**The role**:
Setting the strategic direction of the company's digital offerings, the **Head of Digital Content** maintains a holistic view of the digital hubs as well as all the functions that feed into their success. As well as accountability for the editorial team and its output, the **Head of Digital Content** must work closely to ensure the editorial strategy is aligned with that of marketing, commercial, client project and journal departments to maximize the success of the digital products. You must continuously monitor performance and implement the necessary measures to ensure the digital content hubs are maximizing value for their audience, as well as commercial opportunities for our clients (for example, lead generation and brand awareness). Accountable for content strategy, delivery and quality, the Head of Digital Content must have detailed knowledge of products, processes, the competitive landscape and customers, and must employ this knowledge to align resources and set priorities appropriately.

**Responsibilities include, but are not limited to**:

- Lead the setting, implementation and delivery of digital and content strategy, focusing on how to attract and engage high-value audiences and convert this engagement into commercial success.
- Manage a team of digital editors.
- Understand all the moving parts of products, and how to influence them to achieve growth; including knowledge of where to invest for ROI, where to cut costs and where to focus resources.
- Accountable for the quality of the end-user experience.
- Engage in market mapping and competitor analysis to maintain a meticulous understanding of the competitor landscape and substitute products.
- Build relationships with key clients, to enable a direct flow of feedback and market research into the company's digital content hubs in order to drive development.
- Drive and deliver content across the digital content hubs, aligning with both end-user and client needs, thereby ensuring a clear buy-sell dynamic.
- Construct a rolling strategic plan for digital products, including the development of key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Maintain an overall picture of the performance of the company's digital content hubs, as indicated by analytics and user feedback.
- Iterate the company's digital offerings to ensure continual improvement, informed by end-user feedback.
- Work closely with departments including marketing, commercial, client projects and commissioning to ensure departmental strategies and processes are aligned to maximise business-wide success.

**Skills & Experience**:

- Minimum of 3 years experience in a digital content-centred role.
- A skilled people manager, with proven experience in mentoring, developing and motivating staff
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of what makes great content, with a track record of delivering a variety of engaging digital content formats and campaign tactics.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to identify key levers and manipulate them to boost critical result areas.
- Proven track record of building or growing a digital community.
- An understanding of the competitive landscape, and the ability to identify and capitalise on areas of competitive advantage.
- Familiarity with HubSpot, Google Analytics or similar systems.
- Familiarity with digital best practices, including UX optimisation and search engine optimisation (SEO).
- Excellent team player with strong interpersonal and influencing skills.
- Experience developing digital and content strategies in order to increase growth against key metrics including traffic, engagement and membership conversion.
- The ability to understand client needs and any relevant restrictions, and then feed these back to relevant teams to make products as sellable as possible
- Ability to oversee the big picture, whilst being meticulous and able to dive into detail when needed
- A self-starter with excellent time management skills and the ability to ruthlessly prioritise work.
