We have an exciting opportunity for a proactive and enthusiastic Therapy Support Worker to join our dynamic stroke therapy team. You should have relevant prior experience working as an Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy assistant, support worker or equivalent in a healthcare setting in the UK. You will have the opportunity to work with patients throughout the stroke pathway supporting assessment, rehabilitation and discharge planning.

The successful applicant will join our experienced integrated therapy team, working alongside Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and the wider multidisciplinary team. We are looking for an individual who is willing to learn, motivated and flexible in their approach to work. The ability to work well with all members of the multi-disciplinary team is essential. You will need to have excellent communication skills, be able to work as part of a team and be able to motivate patients.

You will work across both Gloucestershire Royal Hospital and Cheltenham General and will be required to contribute to the therapy weekend working rota.

The post holder will be required to use the principles of Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy in an integrated and client-centred way, to promote independence and facilitate safe discharge. They will assess and manage delegated patients with non-complex mobility and occupational difficulties, reporting back to the registered practitioner as necessary. The role also involves supporting the teams with administration, clerical and housekeeping duties.

The Therapy service provides Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy to inpatients and outpatients at Gloucestershire Royal and Cheltenham General Hospitals.

To use the principles of Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy in an integrated and client-centred way, to promote independence and facilitate safe discharge. This will be achieved by implementing delegated treatment plans and facilitating rehabilitation within agreed limitations through exercise, physical modalities and the use of occupation.

To assess and manage delegated patients with non-complex mobility and occupational difficulties, reporting back to the registered practitioner as necessary.

To support the teams with administration, clerical and housekeeping duties.
