**Job Summary**:
The Support Worker at Transition Support and Accommodation 16-18 year olds supported accommodation home is critical in supporting and guiding young individuals residing in the accommodation facility. We specialise in helping asylum-seeking young people. The primary objective is to create a safe and nurturing environment while assisting residents in achieving their goals, building life skills, and promoting their independence, all while ensuring that safeguarding duties are diligently followed.
**Key Responsibilities**:
**Resident Support**:
Provide day-to-day support and supervision to residents with a strong focus on their safety and well-being.
Assist with daily living activities, including meal preparation, hygiene routines, and household tasks.
Offer emotional and behavioral support to address residents' needs.
**Safeguarding Duties**:
Recognise signs of abuse, neglect, or exploitation and promptly report any concerns to the designated safeguarding lead.
Participate in safeguarding training and stay updated on local safeguarding protocols and procedures.
**Goal Setting**:
Collaborate with residents to set and work towards personal goals, such as education, employment, or life skills development, ensuring that they align with their safety and well-being.
Create and maintain individualised care plans for each resident, incorporating safeguarding measures where necessary.
**Crisis Intervention**:
Manage and de-escalate crises as they arise, ensuring the safety and well-being of residents and adhering to safeguarding protocols.
Report all safeguarding concerns and incidents promptly and accurately.
**Medication Management**:
Administer medications as healthcare professionals prescribe, adhering to medication protocols while maintaining a strong focus on resident safety.
Document all medication administration in accordance with safeguarding requirements.
**Advocacy and Support**:
Advocate for residents' rights and access to services, including healthcare and education, while taking appropriate safeguarding measures.
Encourage residents to engage in community activities and access available resources, ensuring their safety during these activities.
**Record Keeping**:
Maintain thorough and accurate records of resident interactions, progress, incidents, and any safeguarding concerns.
Complete daily logs, incident reports, and other documentation as required, ensuring safeguarding information is appropriately documented and shared as per protocols.
**Team Collaboration**:
Collaborate effectively with colleagues, including other support workers, social workers, therapists, and management, to ensure safeguarding is a collective effort.
Participate in team meetings and case conferences, contributing to safeguarding discussions.
**Safety and Compliance**:
Ensure the facility complies with all relevant regulations, including health and safety standards and safeguarding requirements.
Conduct regular safety checks, including those related to safeguarding concerns, and report any maintenance or safety concerns promptly.
**Qualifications**:
Minimum of one year of experience working with young people
Willingness to undertake a Level 2 qualification in Health and Social Care
Willingness to undertake the relevant training that the home requires.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and overnight shift patterns.
**Application Process**:
Applicants will need to pass a DBS check for working with children and vulnerable adults. A criminal record will not necessarily bar you from this role and it will be risk assessed individually.
We will need two successful references. One must be from your previous employer.
