**This role involves shift pattern working, early and late shifts as well as every other weekend. on alternate weekends - details can be discussed further at interview.**

**The Role**:
ECC Adult Social Care, through effective practice, is moving towards a model with four key principles: - prevention; early intervention; enablement and safeguarding. This will enable people, their families and carers to be able to access information and tools to live healthily and independently. Providing an opportunity to respond pro-actively to growing service demand in a sustainable way, within the financial constraints of the Council.

The Apprentice Residential Assistant opportunity involves undertaking the Level 2 Adult Care Worker qualification within a Health and Social Care setting. You will be working in a residential and short break home for adults with learning disabilities and you will be learning and developing the skills needed in order to provide a high quality level of care. As an Apprentice Residential Assistant, you will be supporting adults with all aspects of their lives including supporting with personal care tasks, in accordance with their wishes and identified needs, both in the home and in the community.

The successful individual will have the opportunity to work alongside highly skilled and knowledgeable staff as well as undertaking training required to further their own knowledge and skills. You will have the opportunity to undertake induction and have regular supervision.

**About You**:
You will:

- Good verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate in a manner which is easily understood and tailored to meet the needs of the audience
- A commitment to learn with the ability to learn key components of care: the principles of respect, dignity, privacy and promoting choice
- An understanding of how to manage sensitive and/or personal information
- Open to new work practices and responsive to change

**Essential Requirements for the role**:

- Functional Skills Level 1 in Maths and English (or equivalent), which is a Grade D/E or 2/3 to begin the apprenticeship
- Ability to reach a Level 2 Functional Skills in both Maths & English by the End Point Assessment (EPA), if you do not already have this
- Have the right to work and study in England
- Have been ordinarily resident in the UK or EEA for three years before the apprenticeship start date

**What will you be doing?**

You will assist with the delivery of routine administrative tasks, dealing with day-to-day work including (but not limited to):

- Contribute to upholding the Duty of Care for all clients to ensure a safe and high quality service
- Understand and ensure compliance with all external and internal regulations
- Undertake all mandatory training to ensure personal, customer and colleague safety at all times
