**The Role**:
ECC Adult Social Care, through effective practice, is moving towards a transformational shift from a focus on long-term care support, to a model with four key principles: - prevention; early intervention; enablement and safeguarding. This will enable people, their families and carers to be able to access information and tools to live healthily and independently. Providing an opportunity to respond pro-actively to growing service demand in a sustainable way, within the financial constraints of the Council.

This Apprentice opportunity involves undertaking an intermediate Apprenticeship framework in Health and Social Care, whilst working within in a residential and short break home for adults with a learning disability and Autism, learning and developing the skills needed in order to provide a high-quality level of care. The Apprentice will be supporting adults with a learning disability and Autism with all aspects of their lives in accordance with their wishes and identified needs, both in the home and in the community.

**This role involves working an early (7am-3pm) and late (3pm-10pm) shift on a rota basis - details can be discussed at interview.**

**About You**:
You will:

- Be educated to RQF level 1 (GCSE) or equivalent by experience with a willingness to achieve the apprenticeship award within 12 months of starting the role.
- Have good verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate in a manner which is easily understood and tailored to meet the needs of the audience.
- Have a commitment to learn with the ability to learn key components of care: the principles of respect, dignity, privacy and promoting choice.
- Understand how to manage sensitive and/or personal information.
- Be open to new work practices and responsive to change.

**Essential Requirements for the role**:

- Functional Skills Level 1 in Maths and English (or equivalent), which is a Grade D/E or 2/3 to begin the apprenticeship.
- Ability to reach a Level 2 Functional Skills in both Maths & English by the End Point Assessment (EPA), if you do not already have this.

**What will you be doing?**
- Contribute to upholding the Duty of Care for all clients to ensure a safe and high-quality service.
- Understand and ensure compliance with all external and internal regulations.
- Undertake all mandatory training to ensure personal, customer and colleague safety at all times.
- The successful individual will work alongside the home’s residents and staff, using a range of communication methods and supporting them in accordance with their wishes and identified personal needs in all aspects of their lives.
- Complete a course of study and achieve the relevant Apprenticeship framework.
- Deliver a quality service to individuals, ensuring consistent adherence to both designed outcomes and agreed service levels.
- Specific individual and shared targets and objectives are defined annually within the performance management framework.
