Morgan Hunt are currently recruiting for a Senior Systems Administrator on a permanent basis for our public sector client based in Glasgow.

**Salary: 44k - 52k**

The role holder will lead the team responsible for the installation and configuration of software, hardware, and networks. They will provide strategic input and specialist technical expertise in designing and maintaining the IT infrastructure. They will be a highly skilled in systems administration, responsible for the security and efficient delivery of complex IT systems. They will be required to make sure that the IT systems meet the required regulatory guidelines and will be accountable for the maintenance of standard operating procedures and server validation. They will oversee the design, direction, security, availability and efficiency of all digital systems infrastructure used within the organisation

**Duties and Responsibilities;**:

- Analysing stakeholders' requirements, you will lead in the design & implementation of the organisations systems architecture, ensuring the optimum level of uptime for critical systems and integrity for the continued operation of the IT infrastructure. This includes active directory services, databases, storage networks and security.
- Administer the backup architecture and disaster recovery strategy including administration of backups, SAS/remote storage, tape libraries and recovery of files/directories/systems.
- Plan and organise changes in the IT service infrastructure to ensure business continuity and prevent loss of service for all end users, concluding with a review of projects implemented in order to assess whether targets have been met prior to system rollout.
- Provide input to ongoing/planned projects to ensure the overall aims and interests of the organisation are achieved by the IT service architecture including capacity planning, the need for infrastructure upgrades, development of new technologies, management of licences and conducting product audits of the Oracle estate.
- Actively maintain and author a document base of policies, standard operating procedures, work instructions, system validation and system qualifications to provide evidence of conformity to development standards and regulatory guidelines for clinical data capture.
- Responsible for the management and development of the system administration team and to ensuring that staff have the necessary skills and ability to fulfil their current and future work duties.
- To co-ordinate with the organisations developers to design stable, efficient and high-availability integrated web services that are secure and compliant with the unit's regulatory requirements.
- Liaise with organisation to ensure that the department is compliant with procedures & policies particularly in regard to procurement and IT regulations.
- Research new innovations and emerging technologies to produce viable proof of concepts in the areas of open source software, web content standards, server management and data processing.

**Skills and Experience;**
- Microsoft MCSE certification or similar.
- Experience in linking enterprise databases, enterprise web tiers, an understanding of multi-site clustered storage, and knowledge of SQL
- Comprehensive knowledge of multiplatform VM server host architecture and server design using Microsoft Hypervisors
- Experience in creating, upgrading, and restoring clustered database systems to support Microsoft SQL Server.
- Comprehensive knowledge of server security, patching, intrusion detection, identity management and redundancy principles for both MS Windows Server and Linux systems.
- Experience in managing Active Directory domain, including policy configuration, DNS, DHCP and user permissions.
- Comprehensive knowledge of backup scheduling and restores under VM and bare metal environments
- Comprehensive knowledge of switch configuration and link aggregation
- Ability to design nightly/weekly automated backup schedule, create scripts in PowerShell for automating server process, and maintain network and systems documentation and IT policies
- Experience of iSCSI Storage area networks and direct attached storage
- Ability to demonstrate the competencies required to undertaken the duties associated with this level of post having acquired the necessary knowledge and skills in a similar role
- Experience of MS Hyper-V or equivalent experience with similar systems
- Familiarity with Dell EqualLogic Storage and multiplatform webserver administration
- Experience of Oracle WebLogic or equivalent experience with similar systems
- Familiarity with MACRO 4 server administration and qualification
