Metanoia Institute has provided high-quality training in the psychological therapies for more than 30 years. We offer part-time, university validated undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Counselling, Psychotherapy and Counselling Psychology and allied programmes in Coaching, Creative Writing for Therapeutic Purposes, Organisational Development and Therapeutic Fostering.

**ROLE PURPOSE**:
The Academic Coordinator will administer programmes as designated by the Academic Coordinator Team Leader and any other courses offered by the Institute. You will contribute to the operation, administration and development of the academic coordination team and the Institute. The Academic Coordinator will support provide a dedicated administrative support which provides the key interface/contact with the student body. Programme allocation will be made on an annual basis according to workload requirements student cohort sizes and operational need.

**ROLE and RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Assisting booking students on assessment interviews, providing information about entry onto the course/workshop and other pre-registrations support.
- To support academic staff within the Institute by maintaining effective information and guidance systems.
- To take thematic responsibility for 1 or more key areas of academic administration supporting other colleagues and team members in this/these area(s).
- To support the Academic Coordinator Team Leader and programme Tutors in maintaining and updating the curriculum resources and materials in line with guidance from other key staff for example the Head of Quality.
- Submitting and supporting professional body registrations as appropriate.
- At all times provide helpful support to student and the teaching teams.
- Providing registers and course materials for introductory workshops and programmes.
- Administering the marking of coursework, student feedback, recording marks and ensuring they are collated and distributed as per the Institutes requirements.
- Ensuring that all relevant written work and correspondence is regularly despatched to External Examiners for your allocated course(s).
- Ensuring all relevant paperwork is prepared for Assessment Boards.
- In liaison with academic registry, processing and preparing credit transcripts, certificates of completion and programme certificates.
- Maintaining an effective office system to include filing and monitoring of records.
- Keeping all records and correspondence regarding Primary Supervisors, Therapists, Assessors and External Examiners.
- Liaising closely with the Programme Teams in managing administrative arrangements for professional meetings such as tutor team meetings and supervisors’ days.
- Preparing agenda and papers and participating in team meetings and taking minutes.
- Where necessary assist academic staff in posting teaching materials on Moodle.
- To answer the telephone and deal with general enquiries.
- To assist in the marketing of programmes by creating appropriate course leaflets, course outlines to ensure accurate course details are always available on the website/Moodle.
- To carry out any other tasks that may be reasonably requested by line managers.
- **Essential Skills and Experience**:

- A first degree or equivalent qualification/experience.
- A minimum of three years’ experience of undertaking administration in an HE setting or equivalent.
- Experience of working with a range of office software.
- Experience of data entry.
- Experience of committee servicing.
- Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to deal effectively with students and staff at all levels.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills.
- Thorough knowledge of MS Office.
- Knowledge of current developments in UK HE.
- Formal Office Skills training, including excellent keyboard skills.
- The ability to work under pressure and prioritise workload.
- The ability to act on own initiative and work independently.
- The ability to work as part of a team.
- Knowledge of Moodle.
- An understanding of and commitment to excellence in customer service.
