**How will your role contribute at NewDay?**

Reporting into the Director of Credit Decisioning, you will be in charge of driving the strategic agenda of our Collections product function; The key focus of this role is to lead the collections' product, providing the best strategy for any customer in collections ensuring we optimise our offers for volume and value and delinquency levels. Leading a product team of Senior Managers, collections analysts and Data Scientists (in shore and off shore), and using existing and new data sources, as well as developing Machine learning models and Robots where relevant, and considering touchpoint funnels and channels, you will deliver optimal strategies across the full customer journey in collections. You will build a coherent strategic approach to collections strategies across all touch points (including DCA) and at personalised customer level to improve its efficiency. The initial focus of the team, being to create an innovative collection recommendation optimizer to be used in our digital strategy. Our stated ambition is to develop an industry leading solution.

This role will support NewDay to deliver on its strategic agenda to deliver value while helping customers being better with credit, providing products that responsibly meet their needs.

**The initiatives will span**:

- Build and maintain ML models, recommendation system algorithms and strategy assets to ensure relevant offers and contacts in collections.
- Working strategically with our collections operational teams to align strategies with global priorities.
- Working with the relevant collections teams to craft and support the development of innovative Multivariate challenger tests to accelerate our learning from a daring and sophisticated testing agenda.
- Working with operational and engineering teams to ensure Robot and strategies can be implemented in production.

**What will you be doing day-to-day?**

**Strategy**:
With support from the Director, be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of key business initiatives to provide a step change in the decision making capability.

**Optimisation**:
Ensuring that the data sources, models and customers touchpoints are optimised towards the portfolio and business needs and balanced with cost of services and customer experience.

**Senior Leadership**:
Influence and guide peers across a range of abilities and aptitudes, encouraged to work in positive relationship with other leaders (particularly Collections Ops and Customer Management). Develop team into leaders and influence the wider organisation to support the Credit Risk and Collections analytical agenda. Own monthly forums related to the areas of ownership.

Product ownership: ensure team bring to bear the diversity of skills and knowledge

**Governance**

: Ensure all processes owned are fully aligned with policies and standards and committees as well as audit actions are completed as expected.

**Horizon scanning**:
Identify future opportunities to improve customer collections strategy standard processes, through market scanning and attendance at external industry meetings as required.

**Relationship Management**:
Build relationships with partners (third party data suppliers, wider NewDay teams) to ensure an effective feedback loop and execution of strategies.

**Your Skills and Experience**:
**Essential**
- University degree level or similar with highly numerate and analytical background
- Proven experience of developing, implementing and managing processes in a dynamic organisation
- Attention to detail & high-level accuracy
- A strategic analyst with commercial proficiency
- A logical and methodical approach to problem solving
- Ability to work unsupervised with a high level of self-motivation to the highest standard within complicated challenges
- Strong experience of working in analytics teams within a regulated financial services organisation
- Solid knowledge of collections strategies, having developed and optimised some.
- Knowledge of credit card sector and products, with a core background in credit risk and/or analytics
- Ability to translate technical solutions into simple language for wider business understanding
- Experience in motivating and lead groups of people, maintaining momentum and delivery with a self-starter approach
- Strong people leadership skills and a passionate desire to develop teams and individuals to achieve their maximum potential
- Ability to drive multiple initiatives forward simultaneously
- Proven understanding of statistical models and algorithms.

**Desirable**:

- Track record of leading multiskilled teams
- Strong history of leading team members to deliver
- Knowledge of CRA data highly desirable
- Hands on knowledge of optimisation processes/algorithms/
