We are looking for a motivated Collections Project Assistant who will work as part of the House of Lords Library Collections Project Team, ensuring the timely and safe packing, listing, and moving of the Library’s collections to offsite facilities. The project team is seeking an individual with great collaboration and communication skills familiar with working to tight deadlines.

The House of Lords Library’s primary function is to support the parliamentary work of Members of the House. Greatly valued by its users, it provides politically impartial reference and research services, and advice about and access to printed and online resources, to the highest possible standards of quality and timeliness. While primarily a working Library focusing on its core user group of some 600 active Members, it also serves the needs of House of Lords staff and Members’ researchers. In addition, it manages and safeguards the Library collections, comprising a wide range of online resources and some 60,000 printed titles, including special collections of national significance.

The Collections Project Team was created in 2017 to sit within the Information Management workstream of the Library to plan for and undertake the listing, packing and moving of the Library’s collections to facilitate the Restoration and Renewal of the Palace of Westminster. Its primary focus is to pack and remove all Library collections from local offsite storage and transfer these to an alternative temporary location.

**The Role**

The post holder will provide key Project assistance to enable the HLL collections to be listed and safely packed to be moved out of the Library’s local offsite storage facility.

Key activities and responsibilities will include:

- Preservation packing of library and archival material
- Audit and track library and archival material as they are packed
- Working as a cohesive unit with the Collections Project team to enable successful moves of collections to an offsite facility.
