**The Role**:
An opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and efficient Compliance/Sustainability Officer to work across the Russell IPM holdings group, gathering and processing information to make sure that the organisation complies with internal and external regulations.

You must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to work well within a multi professional team, across various departments within the organisation and autonomously.

You will be required to record accurate data electronically into various systems and within Microsoft tools, helping to extract and analyse information and proactively problem solving to improve compliance.

**Responsibilities**:
As our Compliance/Sustainability officer you'll be tasked to:

- Perform risk assessments to understand risk level, significance and scope
- Keep up to date with, and understand, relevant laws and regulations
- Monitor compliance with laws, regulations and internal policies
- Manage voluntary best practice relating to professional standards
- Ensure that your findings are recorded and followed up with management so that issues can be rectified
- Conduct internal audits and take responsibility for overseeing all external audits
- Educate employees on not only the regulations, but also the impact on the organisation if these aren't complied with
- Investigate irregularities and non-compliance issues
- Report back to business functions on current risk and compliance performance
- Highlight or escalate areas of concern
- Contribute to robust and effective compliance controls within the organisation
- Review marketing materials, presentations and websites to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
- Assist in the gathering of internal information in response to regulatory requests
- Perform various general administrative duties (such as file creation and maintenance of ongoing administrative projects)
- Collaborate with other departments to create a culture of compliance.
- Implementing environmental policies and practices
- Ensuring compliance with environmental legislation
- Oversee the implementation of sustainability strategies
- Assessing, analysing and collating environmental performance data and reporting information to internal staff, clients and regulatory bodies
- Keeping up to date with relevant changes in environmental legislation and initiatives including international legislation where applicable
- Coordinate the delivery of the environmental strategy ensuring that actions are assigned and subsequently delivered with outcomes clearly recorded.
- Research and propose more sustainable ways of working as part of business practice systems reviews.
- Ensuring that our manufacturing facilities, are as energy efficient and sustainable as possible
- Complete the annual SHIFT (or equivalent) Environmental Assessment for external independent accreditation and benchmarking of the Company's environmental performance.
- Contribute to asset modelling from an energy and sustainability point of view to help inform the formulation of short, medium and long term investment plans for homes in management that is proportional to their expected remaining life.
- Ensure all asset data and information relating to energy efficiency and sustainability is maintained, remains accurate, secure and fit for purpose

**Skills and Experience Required**:

- 3+ years prior experience in a Compliance/Sustainability role required
- Excellent knowledge of ISO14001, ISO9001.
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc
- Excellent communicator
- Strong attention to detail
- Willingness to travel, which may include occasional overnight stays, as and when required

**Working hours**: Monday to Friday 8:45am - 16:45pm. 37.5 hours per week

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: £30,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
