**Background**:
This role is based in the Quality & Academic Development department within the Academic Services directorate.
Quality & Academic Development (QUAD) provides institutional professional leadership for the management of City’s academic quality and standards framework. The responsibilities of the department include oversight of academic policy, compliance and regulation, programme development and review, and the management of institutional-level student casework processes.
**Responsibilities**:
The Senior Student Experience Officer will undertake and manage student caseload on institutional-level student appeals, complaints, misconduct and support for study (formerly fitness to study) in accordance with relevant policies and regulations. The post-holder will work closely with colleagues in Schools and other Professional Services, with individual students as appropriate and with the Office of the Independent Adjudicator on cases that are referred outside the University.
The post-holder will work closely with the other Senior Student Experience Officer and the Student Experience Manager (Casework) to ensure that colleagues across the institution are guided in department-level processes, and that policies and regulations are upheld.
The post-holder will also be required to contribute to the wider work of QUAD within Academic Services to support its function in developing the academic quality and standards framework and associated policies. This includes reflecting on issues arising from student cases, reporting on student casework data and making recommendations for change as appropriate, as well as participating in the broader development of policies and regulations underpinning student casework processes.
**Person Specification**:
The post-holder will need experience of being part of a Higher Education environment, working within a policy or regulatory framework and dealing directly with individuals in difficult situations.
To carry out the role successfully, the post-holder will need excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and a very strong attention to detail. The post-holder will also need excellent interpersonal and communication skills, which allow them to communicate complex and sensitive information to a range of people. They will manage their own workload for much of the time, but will need to be able to work flexibly within a small team to deliver an excellent experience to stakeholders.
