Would you like to be involved in educating and developing colleagues across the trust in how to provide the highest standards of palliative and end of life care?

We only have one chance to get it right at the end of someone’s life, and we’re committed to ensuring that the end of a person’s life is comfortable and supported, and that our palliative care offering is exemplary.

The opportunity has arisen for an experienced, dynamic and highly motivated clinician with a good knowledge of palliative care to join our existing team as our End of Life Educator and Quality Improvement Facilitator. You will play an active role in promoting excellence in palliative and end of life care across the trust and empowering staff to deliver this.

**You would have the opportunity to**:
Go into a job where you are able to make a difference every day.

Teach and train others working in healthcare.

Inspire, motivate and influence colleagues at all levels.

Are you prepared to join our Specialist Palliative Care Team at a regional specialist centre for Oncology, Major Trauma, Vascular, Neurosurgery and Renal services?

A typical day would see you facilitating the development and delivery of multi-professional learning. This will be delivered in both clinical and classroom settings and within online platforms including live teaching and e-learning.

You would be supporting the development of clinical competence in delivering end of life care within the workplace across the range of healthcare professionals in line with agreed directorate and Trust educational development strategies and priorities.

You would develop education and improvement strategies based on continuous improvement methodology.

This would involve utilising a range of strategies to gather feedback on the end of life care delivered across the Trust, including the experiences of patients, their families and members of staff. Methods for gathering this feedback currently utilised include internal trust audits, themes from incidents and complaints and the National Audit of Care at The End of Life (NACEL).

You would be expected to act as a strong role model and provide development, clinical supervision and advice for other staff and students to support them in reaching their full potential.

As an organisation we are committed to delivering excellent care at the end of life and to the training and development of our staff to ensure that all who are involved are able to provide this. We support this aim by ensuring that all staff who care of patients with life limiting diagnoses are required to complete mandatory training.

Working with us gives you the knowledge and sense of pride that every activity you do genuinely does make a difference to support our patients & staff, ensuring we keep thriving & delivering outstanding healthcare right across our local towns.

You will be working as part of a multidisciplinary Specialist Palliative Care Team which includes Clinical Nurse Specialists, doctors in Palliative Medicine, administrative staff and our Lead Nurse in Palliative and End of Life Care.

You will also be supported in your role by our directorate business manager, governance leads, audit lead, lead nurse for cancer and end of life care, and the cancer and end of life education hub.
