Education Project Co-ordinator

The School of Oncology is looking for a highly motivated, innovative, team member to lead on coordination of a funded education programme focused on lung cancer. The wider team delivers recognized comprehensive programmes of cancer to a range of audiences both nationally and internationally.
This funded programme is a key part of The School of Oncology’s portfolio, which includes Masters level education, surgical short courses and clinical skills training. The School of Oncology has a regional, national and international reputation for the quality of its education and training.
**Key responsibilities, amongst other duties, will include**:
Responsibility for the set up and delivery of projects within Christie Education
Effective management of all relevant colleagues, partners, and stakeholder within the project to ensure progress is made against the project objectives and ensure that high-quality educational materials are delivered as planned
Planning and leading project team meetings, ensuring appropriate documentation is completed as required
Forging and maintaining strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including but not limited to: LKS; funders, partners, patient advocates, Christie and University of Manchester colleagues, and relevant suppliers
Working autonomously, managing own workload and reporting on project progress to the Head of Academic Education at timely intervals, whilst highlighting potential risks and issues and adapting plans accordingly
Financial management of budgets and resources within the grant to ensure maximum value is achieved with resources allocated
Preparing and submitting any progress or financial reporting as required by the relevant project funder and providing regular reports to senior colleagues on performance against budget, identifying any issues which arise
Developing and reporting on a range of identified KPIs using appropriate project management tools
The Christie is one of Europe’s leading cancer centres, treating over 60,000 patients a year. We are based in Manchester and serve a population of 3.2 million across Greater Manchester & Cheshire, but as a national specialist around 15% patients are referred to us from other parts of the country. We provide radiotherapy through one of the largest radiotherapy departments in the world; chemotherapy on site and through 14 other hospitals; highly specialist surgery for complex and rare cancer; and a wide range of support and diagnostic services. We are also an international leader in research, with world first breakthroughs for over 100 years. We run one of the largest early clinical trial units in Europe with over 300 trials every year. Cancer research in Manchester, most of which is undertaken on the Christie site, has been officially ranked the best in the UK.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Project management
- Responsible for the set up and delivery of projects within Christie Education
- Effectively manage all relevant colleagues, partners, and stakeholder within the project to ensure progress is made against the project objectives and ensure that high-quality educational materials are delivered as planned
- Plan and lead project team meetings, ensuring appropriate documentation is completed as required
- Ensure that all learning meets accessibility requirements, including Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI)
- Forge and maintain strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including but not limited to: LKS; funders, partners, patient advocates, Christie and University of Manchester colleagues, and relevant suppliers
- Work autonomously, manage own workload and report on project progress to Head of Academic Education at timely intervals, whilst highlighting potential risks and issues and adapting plans accordingly
- Extract, analyse and report on the impact of the project, through both quantitative and qualitative data collection
- Be a source of experience in project management techniques to other colleagues in CE
Finance
- Financial management of budgets and resources within the grant to ensure maximum value is achieved with resources allocated
- Day to day budget management of project finances, including acting as authorized signatory
- Prepare and submit any progress or financial reporting as required by the relevant project funder
- Provides regular reports to senior colleagues on performance against budget, identifying any issues which arise
Risk Management
- Responsible for identifying and reporting on risk issues in relation to all projects
- Negotiate with all stakeholders to ensure effective project delivery
Quality and Governance
- Maintain compliance with copyright and data laws with respect to all created materials as part of any education projects
