**Days & Hours**: 36 hours per week / 3 shifts of 12 hours from 8.00 pm - 08:00 am with flexibility on nights of the week worked. A Rota is provided 4 weeks in advance

**About this client/child**:
Peter is 26 and supported by his loving, dedicated family, and expert therapy team. He sustained a Traumatic Brain Injury 5 years ago but has made a remarkable recovery due to his determination and strength of character. With 2-1 support, he has been able toreach his goals, such as a college course he recently completed and another which Peter started in October. Peter’s long-term aim is to begin a University Degree He is very inquisitive; he loves learning from others and trying new activities. He has a positiveoutlook and is a bit of a Joker He likes to build a strong rapport with his Support Workers. Peter can weight bear; his balance is very unsteady so he always requires the support of 2 people with him for support. He uses a wheelchair, or a frame, and Nordicpoles with assistance. He has a PEG for medication, nutrition, and fluids but can take some medication and nutrition orally. Peter’s speech can be a little difficult to understand until you get tuned into it. Peter doesn’t have a great insight into his needs;he can push himself too much so needs gentle reminders to slow down, and take rests. You need to be vigilant; Peter may not think things through.

**Overview of role**:
The waking night role begins at 8.00 pm. Peter likes to sit with his Support Workers, perhaps reading or going over college work. He is enthusiastic about lots of topics, so you need to be dynamic; bring fun and interesting conversation with you As a youngman, Peter wants those few hours before he goes to bed, to be upbeat, not boring. He needs assistance with all personal and self-care needs, transfers, and manual handling (An on-call family member will help with all transfers). During the night he requiresmonitoring, repositioning, and assistance to go to the bathroom. While asleep, you will do some ironing, read, or study to stay alert and vigilant; Peter may wake up 2/3 times. At 08.00 am, a family member will come in to take over so you will not be requiredto do morning personal care. It is essential that you can commit to working weekday and weekend nights. The rota is provided 4 weeks in advance.There may be an opportunity to work optional extra hours to cover employee holidays/sickness.
