**About the School**:
Wychwood is an academically strong and pastorally outstanding day and boarding school in the centre of North Oxford for pupils aged 11-18. As a smaller school we have a wonderful family atmosphere and spirit where every single member of staff is valued and an essential part of our combined aim: _to achieve academic excellence through creativity of thought by providing education of the highest quality in a well-rounded and happy environment._

**Nature of the post**:
As the Head of Housekeeping at Wychwood School, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining a clean, safe, and hygienic environment conducive to learning. You will be responsible for overseeing the housekeeping team, managing cleaning schedules, and ensuring that all areas of the school premises meet the highest standards of cleanliness.

**Reporting To**:
Director of Operations and the Head

**Working Hours**:
Monday to Friday inclusive during term-time, plus 8 weeks during the school holidays per year (approximately 42 weeks per year total)

0740 - 1200 (but some flexibility with these hours)

20 working hours per week with a 20 minute unpaid break per day

**Remuneration**:
£11,200 - £12,000 (full-time equivalent £24,295 - £26,245) per annum. Salary will be annualised and paid evenly over 12 monthly instalments per year.

**Holiday Entitlement**:
13 days paid holiday per annum (full-time equivalent of 30 days pro rata) excluding bank holidays, to be taken during the school holidays. It may be necessary to work on bank holidays if the school is in session. This will be paid at the normal rate. Occasional weekend working will be required by arrangement with the Director of Operations. Occasional overtime will be required for which time off in lieu or extra pay will be given. If a bank holiday is a working day for the school, then a day may be taken in lieu by arrangement with the other facilities staff so that the school continues to run effectively.

**Pay Review**:
There is a pay review implemented each September (September 2024 for this post). The school offers meals during the school term.

**Sickness Pay**:
Employees are entitled to Statutory Sick Pay if the qualifying requirements are met. After one year employees are entitled to up to 3 days paid sick leave a year.

**Pension**:
All support staff are automatically enrolled in the school’s pension scheme for support staff, details of which can be obtained from the Director of Operations. Employees will be sent details by the Director of Operations advising them of their options and details of the process.

**Probation**:
There is a probationary period of three months during which time the school reserves the right to require the School Enterprise Administrator to leave without giving a reason.

**Notice**:
During the probationary period the notice period is one week on either side, thereafter two months’ notice must be given by either side except in cases dismissal for gross misconduct. The school reserves the right to pay wages in lieu of notice.

**Daily Operations**:

- Coordinate and schedule cleaning tasks to ensure all areas of the school are cleaned regularly.
- Inspect facilities regularly to identify and address maintenance and cleanliness issues promptly.
- Undertake cleaning duties as required depending on team deployment
- Undertake cleaning duties as required to cover illness/absence within the team
- Undertake laundry duties for boarders and catering team
- Coordinate deep cleans before each term starts
- Coordinate and undertake holiday cleaning cover to support the School’s lettings and commercial activity

**Team Leadership**:

- Organise, supervise, and motivate a team of housekeeping staff to ensure a high level of performance.
- Develop and implement effective cleaning procedures and protocols.
- Conduct annual performance reviews/appraisals with the housekeeping staff
- With the Director of Operations, advertise, recruit, interview and select new team members as and when required.

**Inventory Management**:

- Manage and maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment.
- Place orders for supplies as needed and ensure cost-effective inventory management.

**Compliance and Safety**:

- Ensure compliance with health and safety standards and regulations, including Manual Handling and COSHH.
- Implement and enforce proper handling and disposal of cleaning chemicals and materials.

**Communication**:

- Collaborate with other departments to coordinate cleaning activities with school events and schedules.
- Communicate effectively with staff, addressing concerns, and providing feedback on performance.

**Quality Assurance**:

- Implement quality control measures to ensure a consistently high standard of cleanliness.
- Conduct regular inspections
