Our Client from **Brighton, East Essex**, is looking for a **Patient Access Administrator (Radiology)**.

**Pay: £12 - £13 Per Hour**

**Contract: 3 Months with possible extension**

**Hours: 37.5 Hours per Week**

**Time: Monday till Friday**

**Job Summary**:
To provide administrative and clerical support to the Interventional and Neuro Interventional Radiology Suites, taking the responsibility for efficient flow of scheduled and emergency lists with the ultimate aim of effective and timely patient care.

To provide and enable effective scheduling and admission of patients to the Interventional and Neuro Interventional Radiology suite.

**Communication**:

- To act as the first line point of contact for the daily workflow, enabling effective communication of information within the multi-disciplinary team.
- To communicate effectively with wards and service users to facilitate patient preparation for treatment and to enable timely transfer to and from the interventional suite.
- To demonstrate excellent communication skills when dealing with patients, relatives and members of the multidisciplinary team utilising sensitivity, empathy and ability to manage conflict.
- To understand and implement trust and departmental patient preparation guidance as appropriate to the treatment or examination required, following clinical instruction and advice given in the Radiology information system (CRIS) notes.
- To act on the instruction of the operating interventional radiologist and the clinical team.
- Actively contribute to effective teamwork.

**Planning and Organisational Skills**:

- Schedule patient appointments for any requested examinations or treatments as defined by the referral and justification (vetting) notes on the Radiology information system (CRIS) utilising the appropriate patient information and pre-procedural paperwork.
- Arrange direct day case admission and pre-procedure clinic appointments for patients to the Interventional Radiology Suites. To provide support and cross cover to the IR medical secretary as appropriate.
- Liaise appropriately with specialty wards and medical secretaries to arrange admission for patients requiring a ward based day case or inpatient stay for treatment.
- Liaise with inpatient wards within the hospital to book any requested examinations or treatments as defined by the referral and justification (vetting) notes on the Radiology information system (CRIS) or as instructed by the multidisciplinary team.
- Admit and discharge patients using the Trust system, ordering and dispatching patient notes as required. Ensure all patient notes are appropriately prepared for admission and prepare all appropriate checklists and procedural paperwork prior to scheduled procedure time.
- Investigate the non-attendance of patients booked for admission. Liaise with the multidisciplinary team with regards to organising on the day and future admission and appointments.
- Upon patient discharge, ensure that all medical/nursing notes are complete, filed in the correct order and scanned into the procedural event.
- Ensure all important and confidential patient documents and notes are stored correctly whilst in the suite and complete the appropriate tracking of all notes passing through the Interventional suite.
- To arrange the efficient flow of patients through the suite, providing the multidisciplinary team with the co-ordination of patient preparation and supporting ongoing care of day case patients.
- Provide patient level admission data updates to the Radiology management team to support daily communications and duty management.
- To participate in the implementation of the Fluoroscopy, Theatres & Interventional Unit policies and service development. Support departmental meetings with minute taking and distribution of information as required.
- Assist in the management of departmental documentation including updating patient posters, information, internal contact numbers and diary updates.
- Undertake any project work as directed e.g.: obtaining information from various sources, collation and reporting of data, assisting in the production of reports and other documents.
- To take every possible measure to ensure the safety of patients, visitors and staff in the suite. Report accidents, incidents and faulty equipment as appropriate.
- Complete requests for work and/or maintenance from the Facilities Management Department where appropriate. Ensure the completion of appropriate records.
- Carry out the role with regard to the efficient and effective use of resources within the clinical environment.
- Ensure stocks of stationery are maintained and undertake any necessary photocopying.
- Ensure that any faxed documents are directed to the appropriate member of staff.
- Accept responsibility for individual actions.
- Demonstrate an understanding of role boundaries.
