We are really pleased to offer this excellent opportunity to join our team in the Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery & Palliative Care as a Research Assistant / Project Coordinator, working across three projects that aim to understand and improve palliative and end of life care, with a focus on real-world impact.

We are looking for a bright, dynamic, self-directed, and committed individual, keen to work as part of our team, and motivated to develop their skills and experience in delivering high-quality research.

The Research Assistant / Project Coordinator will assist with day-to-day running and coordination of the NIHR Policy Research Unit (PRU) in palliative and end of life care at King’s College London and help deliver key milestones and objectives. The post holder will support the research, dissemination and engagement activities associated with the work of the PRU. The post holder will report to, and work closely with, the PRU Director Professor Katherine Sleeman.

The post-holder will also contribute to two Marie Curie funded studies. The Take-up study is a mixed-methods study investigating how to improve the take-up of benefits by people living with terminal illness. DUE-CARE is a mixed-methods study investigating unmet palliative care needs in the UK.

This post will be offered on an a fixed term contract for 18 months, though we hope it will be extended further.

This is a full-time post - 100% full time equivalent.

Key responsibilities

Assisting with and coordinating day-to-day activities of the NIHR Policy Research Unit in palliative and end of life care, as well as Take-up and DUE CARE, contributing to delivery of key objectives and deadlines.

Coordinating Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) activities.

Planning, coordinating and minuting meetings.

Supporting preparation of data, reports and information, working closely with the wider team.

Assisting in the development and monitoring of impact for past, current and planned research.

Contributing to wider activities of the research team as appropriate.

Contributing to research and education activities within the Cicely Saunders Institute.

The above list of responsibilities may not be exhaustive, and the post holder will be required to undertake such tasks and responsibilities as may reasonably be expected within the scope and grading of the post.

Skills, knowledge, and experience

Essential Criteria
- Degree in health or social sciences or similar, awarded to a high level (e.g. first or 2:1).
- Highly organized, self-motivated, ability to work independently as well as part of a team, ability to work to deadlines and prioritise competing workloads, flexible and able to meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills. Experience in contributing to high quality reports / academic papers, demonstrating attention to detail and accuracy.
- Demonstrates a commitment to promoting equality, diversity and inclusivity for staff and students.

Desirable criteria
- Experience in supporting quantitative, qualitative, or mixed methods research.
- Experience in supporting Patient and Public Involvement.
