**About the Role**
As a Logistics Controller, you will ensure the smooth day-to-day running of our Imports Department, liaising with hauliers, shippers, plants and offices in various countries with an exceptional high level of customer service.
Known as an Import Controller internally, you will proactively plan the logistics requirements of products being imported for our customers, to ensure that their expectations are met and exceeded.
You will be helping us to import finished goods (mostly bricks and specialist products) from within the Wienerberger network in Europe.
The role will include travelling to UK ports to conduct quarterly physical stock counts and to reconcile monthly stock counts, plus occasional overseas travel to attend meetings.
Duties are varied but will include:
- Plan imported products from Belgium, The Netherlands, Germany and Denmark
- Plan the transportation of products via multimodal transport into ports
- Liaise with host countries for product availability
- Create intercompany purchase orders
- Daily administration for goods inwards movements using SAP
- Liaise with hauliers for spot rates
- Manage the importation of non-stocked products as orders are received
- Manage security stock levels
**Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 5.00pm**
**About You**
You will be a logistics professional who has coordinated the importing of products/goods into the UK and therefore has a good understanding of customs processes and procedures.
You will also have:
- Confident to deal with various stakeholders
- A proactive approach to problem solving
- Ability to work under pressure
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong IT skills (Microsoft Excel with experience of creating/using spreadsheets, Word and Outlook
- Understanding of how to raise purchase orders goods receipting (ideally using SAP in SD/MM modules)
- Desirable - experience working within an import/logistics/freight-forwarding team using multimodal transport
