Centre Peace was founded by an experienced Foster Carer, and our staff team are enthusiastic about providing holistic, high-quality, therapeutically informed care tailored to each young person’s specific requirements. We support children and young people who have complex needs which include Emotional Behavioural Difficulties (EBD), CSE, Gang Affiliation and Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking children. We create a home environment that exceeds the needs of the children and young people, enabling them to express their characters, feel safe, and enrich their lives.

We are looking for full-time child residential support workers to complete a shift pattern covering 12 or 24 hour shifts. If you are motivated to help young people make healthy life choices and achieve independence, then this may be of interest to you.

This direct work involves keeping the children safe and following their tailored plans in safeguarding to help them develop the skills needed to reach independence. You will be supporting a small range of young people on a one-to-one basis and together, to settle into life possibly within a new area.

You will help them orientate themselves, get around on public transport or transport in the company pool car, access education and training, pursue hobbies and interests, look after themselves in their home, assist with cooking, cleaning, budgeting, and establishing routines and structure. You will take them on social outings, organise trips and support family contact as needed. You will sign post them to agencies and services to support and enhance their lives e.g., legal support, religious needs, mental health support, sporting activities or teams.

**To be successful, you must**:

- Possess at least an NVQ level 2/3 qualification or equivalent in Health and Social Care or working towards this. It is mandatory for the employee to commit to completing the above qualifications within two years of employment within our organisation.
- Willing to undergo training to register with Social Care Wales
- Aged 21 and over to fulfil the legal requirements of the role (Exempt under the Equality Act 2010, pursuant to schedule 9, Part 1).
- Be able to showcase proven experience of working as a Support Worker or Carer with children or young adults for at least 6 months.
- Have experience with other cultures and their needs such as linguistic, religious, and cultural.
- Possess both experience and knowledge of Safeguarding young people.
- Be comfortable and confident dealing with challenging behaviours and setting firm boundaries.
- Have strong communication skills, both written and verbal in English.
- Be flexible to work across a rota and ability to adjust your schedule as per the requirements.
- Have good computer skills for record keeping
