**JOB DESCRIPTION**

**PAYROLL OFFICER**

**Main Purpose**: The post holder will be part of the HR team and will help deliver a comprehensive support service by taking a lead role with the preparation and submission of accurate monthly payroll information.

**Responsible to**: People Director

**Salary**:£23,183- £27,692

**Hours**: 30 - 39hrs per week

**PAYROLL OFFICER MAIN DUTIES**

**Payroll Duties**
- To take a lead role in ensuring HR records are accurate in line with monthly payroll requirements
- To provide a timely, accurate, efficient and effective monthly payroll, ensuring that service deadlines are met
- To process sickness which includes checking of SC2 forms, fit notes, return to work documentation and updating HR system as well as calculating sickness pay in line with the organisation’s terms and conditions.
- To support with rota, timesheet and payroll input recording.
- To process monthly payroll amendments including starters, leavers, and contract changes.
- To process transactions relating to payroll expenses, deductions, and salary sacrifice schemes.
- To ensure payroll data is in line with HR Staffing Budgets by updating the relevant databases.
- To support with pensions administration and data requests from providers and employees.
- To complete and submit pension scheme leavers documentation.
- To conduct regular checks to ensure integrity of the payroll information.
- To deal with payroll enquiries from employees and management.
- To communicate and work with our external payroll provider.
- To deal with sensitive matters professionally and confidentially.

**Person Specification**

**Essential / Desirable**

A strong generalist administrator with demonstrable experience of working with databases, cloud based systems, management information systems, and Microsoft Office 365, in particular Excel

Experience of working in Health and Social care

Desirable

Payroll qualification and/or knowledge and experience of payroll systems, data capturing, processing, and working with payroll bureaus.

Experience of managing end-to-end processes.
