Manchester, United Kingdom The Christie NHS Foundation Trust Full time

This exciting opportunity is for three new posts within the Digital Service Transformation team. The postholder will be responsible for creating high quality training and delivering training courses using several platforms to suit the learning styles of our staff. Ensuring all staff using the systems required to fulfil their job roles efficiently and effectively.

You will educate all staff to effectively utilise new technology which may directly, and fundamentally, alter their existing roles in a rapidly changing environment. This can result in staff feeling insecure within the organisation and within their role. The challenge is to influence their attitude toward Digital in a positive way and support them successfully through the changes.

The ability to travel to all sites where The Christie offers services will be required.

The post holder will be integral to the Trust’s implementation of Clinical and Non-Clinical system developments, primarily by undertaking the development, planning, preparation and delivery of end user training sessions and materials for system developments, Basic IT Skills and common MS Office programs, under the guidance of the Digital Transformation Team.

They will assist with the realisation of benefits identified from the introduction of the new solutions by delivering high quality training on complex systems which are

themselves evolving in terms of functionality. This is a critical role in ensuring the Trust can function, as failure by staff to achieve competency will result in their inability to perform their given role.

Working closely with Business Analysis team, project managers and development colleagues, they will identify the impact of changing processes on the development of training courses and materials.

The Christie is one of Europe’s leading cancer centres, treating over 60,000 patients a year. We are based in Manchester and serve a population of 3.2 million across Greater Manchester & Cheshire, but as a national specialist around 15% patients are referred to us from other parts of the country.

We provide radiotherapy through one of the largest radiotherapy departments in the world; chemotherapy on site and through 14 other hospitals; highly specialist surgery for complex and rare cancer; and a wide range of support and diagnostic services. We are also an international leader in research, with world first breakthroughs for over 100 years.

We run one of the largest early clinical trial units in Europe with over 300 trials every year. Cancer research in Manchester, most of which is undertaken on the Christie site, has been officially ranked the best in the UK.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Training Responsibilities

1. Devise and perform Training Needs Analyses as appropriate.

2. Develop lesson plans, eLearning materials and training syllabuses for training sessions

3. Assist in the preparation and management of all learning resources, facilities and materials for all digital skills and training.

4. Carry out training on all Trust systems. Carry out ongoing refresher and update training as required.

5. Use complex equipment, e.g. the Training Database or Digital Learning Solution, to produce complex reports on staff training.

6. Train staff utilising advance computer skills proven through the acquisition of qualifications such as ECDL (European Computer Driving Licence) or its replacement (NHS Elite), or CLAIT (Computer Literacy and Information Technology).

7. Identify additional investment requirements in training materials, venues, personnel or other resources such as additional PCs, laptops, and provide reports to that effect to the Training Team Manager or Training Manager.

8. Responsible for updating and signing off attendance and “chasing” DNAs to ensure rebooking and attendance.

9. Use the information from training records to determine the competency of individual users post training.

11. Manage own workload in terms of timetables, training programmes and timely reports.

12. Cope with an unpredictable and fluctuating workload. For example, when a new development is due to be rolled out, large groups of staff will need to be trained in a short timescale; at other times, training numbers may be smaller and need to be managed on a 1-1 and/or ad hoc basis.

13. Adapt training style and materials according to the group dynamic. This will involve being able to identify and analyse a wide ranging level of abilities, from non-PC users to near-expert users, and adapt the training accordingly and appropriately.

14. Provide appropriate informal and additional formal support to any staff member experiencing difficulty to successfully complete their training. This may necessitate the development and agreement of learning contracts with individuals.

15. Cope with difficult situations in the training environment, dealing with complex questions and problems relating to the training aims, materials and IT equipment being used. Referral
