**Hybrid Working**: All posts are based at our Swindon office, but we operate a hybrid approach, and you can expect a mix of working from home, the office, and occasionally at** **external locations. As we recognise the benefits of in-person working, individual teams have set a minimum expectation that they will work in person together in the Swindon office. On occasions where there is a business need, you may be required to attend the office more than the minimum expectation (e.g., for training, events, or team days). Expectations will be set out at interview and offer, and all working arrangements will be considered.

Portfolio Delivery Officers provide key support to ESRC (Economic and Social Research Council) and our portfolios of research investments and sit within the breadth of ESRC teams.

We currently have one vacancy in our** Research Talent Development **Team and one vacancy in our **Grants Delivery Team. **We may have further opportunities in other teams during the course of this campaign.

**Research Talent Development**: The Research Talent Development Team (formerly the Skills and Methods Team) manages investment and policies in researcher development across the life course and methodological skills and innovation. This includes ESRC’s Doctoral Training Network; support for early career researchers; major research methods investments; and developing our evolving strategy for supporting research leadership in the social sciences.

**Grants Delivery Team (GDT)**: The GDT is a centre of expertise within ESRC for leading commissioning of funding opportunities and grants related grants processing activity. Working in partnership with all teams across ESRC, and more widely within UKRI, the post-holder will provide specialist advice to support the effective deployment of research and innovation funding for ESRC. Diligent relationship management and the efficient delivery of systems, data, processes, mechanisms, and policy are key aspects of this role. Where capacity allows, there are opportunities to work with broader corporate activities and priorities.

**Job Purpose**

You will engage with academics at the forefront of economic and social science research, supporting the effective deployment of research and innovation funding.

You will undertake a diverse range of activities that facilitate the assessment of high-quality research proposals, support scoping, prioritisation, and commissioning of new investments, and ensure outputs, outcomes and impact are captured and optimised. These also include supporting the management of key research investment, high quality peer review selection, organising expert review panels, and delivering workshops to engage with broader stakeholder communities to catalyse research ideas. You will also act as a source of advice on ESRC’s policies and processes.

You will provide this support across portfolio areas within a hard-working, collaborative, and dynamic team, supporting everyday team functions and owning discrete areas of work that you drive forward. You will be required to build and manage strong relationships with colleagues across the organisation and external stakeholders to facilitate the effective delivery of funding through a wide range of supporting systems, data, processes, mechanisms and policies.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Play an active role in team activities to support the delivery of the ESRC’s vision for social science.
- Ensure that the end-to-end commissioning of grants, including checking proposals, and peer review selection, and managing queries, is efficient, accurate and delivered on schedule.
- Provide support on the grant-level portfolio management of investments including processing post-award changes to grants and capturing outputs, outcomes, and impacts.
- Co-ordinate attendance at workshops, expert group meetings and other key events
- Lead arrangements and prepare agendas for internal and external meetings and record clear minutes and actions.
- Support senior colleagues to analyse existing portfolio data, helping the team to catalyse, prioritise and develop new ideas/
- Contribute ideas for improvements to our policies and processes.
