Wales has embarked on exciting, new projects and programmes to transform electronic prescribing across all care settings. Led by Digital Health and Care Wales, the Digital Medicines Transformation Portfolio will work with Health Boards, primary care providers and other stakeholders to digitise medicines management processes. This will enable prescriptions to be created and sent electronically and for information on patients’ medicines to be accessed by both patients and their care providers.

To support the Hospital Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (EPMA) Programme and Shared Medicines Record Project, we are looking for a pharmacist with significant knowledge and experience in hospital pharmacy as well as analysis, requirements, engagement, business change and clinical informatics. In conjunction with other members of the EPMA Programme and Shared Medicines Project Teams you will be required to lead the development and implementation of digital solutions and engage and collaborate with a range of stakeholders to ensure the delivery of new ways of working to ensure safer patient and clinical care.

Giving leadership and steer to DHCW projects and services. Identifying with service colleagues’ changes in current workflow processes that will need to be made as a result of specific system changes, in particular provide a detailed professional focus and input on process mapping clinical services, design processes.

Developing clinical assurance processes such as a data integrity and quality, patient safety, and clinical benefits and ensure compliance with national patient safety and clinical risk models / processes.

Understanding the Service Recipients’ business and working with Service Management to ensure the ongoing service delivery and support meets agreed Service recipient Requirements.

To work with DHCW Programmes and Service Management to ensure effective transition from project to operations.

Liaison with and support of the user community

Reviewing key documents, strategies, test plans, data, cases and scripts.

Contributing to the development of; relevant design standards, nomenclature, coding and decision support activities.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Establish and maintain credibility at all levels across DHCW, Health Boards, Professional Groups and Welsh Government particularly with the Directors of Pharmacy for Wales.

Diplomacy, tact and the ability to influence and motivate colleagues are key requirements for this role. Work closely with a wide range of stakeholders to promote DHCW and the Clinical Directorate and engage them in the development of strategies, models, procedures, plans and products to underpin all aspects of ICT enabled change. Considerable persuasion and negotiation skills and an ability to engage with individuals and organisations across a range of sectors are needed including:
NHS senior managers from across the UK, Welsh and UK government departments

Clinical Leaders, professionals and carers

UK professional bodies including Royal Colleges

Patient groups

Health Board Clinical Directors

Take responsibility for developing, planning and implementing clinical strategies and contributing to the business planning process for DHCW.

Lead on advising the clinical directors and senior managers on the long-term strategy for the Pharmacy Profession and other key contexts. Carry out the clinical tasks identified in the relevant test strategy and plans and advise project managers of their progress.

Write plans and objectives and present these to senior management.
