**Job brief**:
**Responsibilities**:
- Implement and maintain network security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and access controls.
- Provide comprehensive support, configuration, maintenance, and upgrade of the networks and in-house servers to ensure high availability, scalability, and security.
- Monitor and optimise network performance (i.e. utilisation, throughput, goodput, and latency). Identify and resolve issues to minimise downtime and ensure smooth operations
- Contribute to server installation, configuration, and maintenance activities, including hardware and software upgrades, patch management, firmware upgrade and system monitoring.
- Resolve end-user-reported problems in a timely manner.
- Define network policies and procedures to streamline operations.
- Specify system requirements and design effective solutions.
- Conduct regular backups and disaster recovery planning to ensure data integrity and minimize potential risks.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess infrastructure needs and develop solutions that align with business objectives.
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices related to network, server, and infrastructure management.
- Develop and maintain documentation, including network diagrams, system configurations, and operational procedures.
**Requirements**:
Essential:
- Proven experience in a network administrator role, demonstrating expertise in effectively managing IT infrastructure.
- Proficiency in managing a Windows domain (AD, DHCP, WDS, WSUS, Group Policy, etc.); Exchange 2016/Office 365); and VMWare ESXi and VCenter
- In-depth knowledge of networking protocols, server systems, virtualisation technologies.
- Experience with configuring firewalls (ideally Fortinet), Internet VPNs, remote implementation, troubleshooting, and problem resolution.
- Ability to proficiently set up and configure server, desktop, and network hardware and software.
- Familiarity with backup and recovery software, methodologies, and best practices.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritise and multitask effectively.
- Excellent knowledge of industry best practices for installation, management, control, and monitoring of server infrastructure.
Desirable:
- Expertise in Fortigate UTM Firewall management and Meraki Wi-Fi.
- Knowledge of Linux (Debian/Ubuntu) for expanded versatility.
- knowledge of scripting languages to create automated tasks
