**Job description***:
The NWH Group is a leading waste management business with operations in Scotland and the North East of England. We are committed to sustainability and responsible business practices, and we are seeking an experienced Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Lead to drive our ESG strategy and initiatives.

The ESG Lead will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the company's ESG strategy. They will form and lead an ESG committee, provide guidance to the Operational Board, and be accountable for setting and achieving ESG goals aligned with our business objectives.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Initiate, develop, and implement the company's ESG strategy to drive sustainability and responsible practices.
- Identify ESG risks and opportunities, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives.
- Continuously assess industry best practices and emerging trends to enhance our ESG initiatives.
- Lead, mentor, and manage the ESG committee, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
- Delegate responsibilities and ensure efficient collaboration within the ESG committee.
- Provide expert guidance and insights to the Operational Board on ESG matters, advocating for sustainable decisions.
- Collaborate with senior leaders to integrate ESG principles into business operations.
- Develop clear and measurable ESG goals, both short-term and long-term.
- Regularly track and report on progress, ensuring transparency and accountability.
- Prepare and present ESG reports to internal and external stakeholders, including investors, customers, and regulatory bodies.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including investors, customers, employees, and community organisations.
- Engage with external ESG networks and organisations to stay informed about industry standards and best practices.
- Identify potential ESG risks and develop mitigation strategies to protect the company's reputation and financial stability.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant ESG regulations and standards.

**Qualifications**:

- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Environmental Science, Sustainability, Business, Finance).
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in ESG leadership roles, preferably in a waste management or related industry.
- Strong understanding of ESG principles, frameworks (e.g., GRI, SASB), and reporting requirements.
- Proven track record in developing and implementing successful ESG strategies.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Knowledge of relevant ESG regulations and compliance requirements.
- Passion for sustainability and a commitment to driving positive change within the organization and the industry.
