We are recruiting a Content Operations Lead to support the content design community in one of the UK’s largest government departments.

Content designers are key figures in the teams that design and deliver services. They help their teams develop a deep understanding of user needs and how users interact with content. Their editorial skills allow their teams to design and build better services that are easier to use and to continuously improve content, based on data and evidence.

As a Content Operations Lead, you will develop content design capability and assure good content design best practice. You will support and lead workforce planning and recruitment activities. You will ensure content designers have the support and resources needed and support their career development within the DDTS profession. You will take the lead on the content design community’s activities including events, training and communications.

This is a demanding role focused on people management, ensuring we have the right people, with the right skills, in the right place to deliver digital services and outcomes across Defra. The postholder will be a critical part of our large content design profession and the wider user-centred design community.

**Person specification**

**Responsibilities**
- Lead community activities, including running content crits, organising training and leading community events
- Support community working groups, including how we measure success, effective documentation and advocating for content design
- Promote and assure good content design practice
- Provide people management, leadership and direction to Senior Content Designers working in multi-disciplinary teams
- Help to identify content design recruitment needs, supporting or leading recruitment campaigns, as required
- Contribute content design expertise to support content designers in the team to meet learning and development goals

**Skills and experience**
- A thorough understanding of content design
- Experience of crafting community strategies and activities including events, training and communications
- Leading, managing and developing content designers
- Experience of workforce planning, ideally including recruitment experience
- Experience of coaching and mentoring people to grow their skills and identify development opportunities
- Comfortable working and communicating with stakeholders at all levels in a fast-paced environment

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: £52,120.00-£64,380.00 per year
