**THE ROLE**

The Activities Co-ordinator will work alongside the Occupational Therapist improving the life of our service users, by helping them develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to make positive lifestyle changes. Delivering a range of therapeutic activities, providing stimulation to the home environment.

They will be responsible for arranging daily group sessions, planning programmes, outings and events, staffing the events and overseeing the implementation of activities, ensuring the programme reflects the wishes and preferences of the service users and meets their emotional, social, physical and intellectual needs.

Other responsibilities will include supporting service users to access social networks and maintain personal interests in accordance with best practice, agreed standards, legislation and within the financial budget, actively assisting to maintain and promote service user's independence at all times.

A caring and sensitive approach is a must and compassion, patience and empathy within all tasks must be displayed.

**APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS**
- Must hold an Adult Health & Social Care Care Certificate or equivalent qualification.
- An Activity Coordinator's Certificate is desirable, however, if not held, the applicant must undertake training to achieve this qualification.
- Must have at least 12 months experience in the role of Activities Co-ordinator, we will consider applicants who have worked in non traditional care home backgrounds, however they must have held a similar role and have a good understanding of the responsibilities of working with multiple disabilities, physical and mental health disabilities.
- Must be creative, organised and very reliable in their work ethic.
- Will be expected to run at least two activity sessions per day and hold monthly resident meetings, covering activities, fund raising, entertainment.
- Must be able to work within a monthly budget, to cover group sessions, day trips, entertainment, etc.
- Must be competent with IT systems, however support will be provided in using the Home's care system.
- Must be prepared to undertake pool lifeguard training.
- A full driving license is desirable.
- Occasional weekend working may be required.
