**Background**

The University has an exciting vision to build on the success of REF2021, by continuing to transform its research performance across outputs, income, impact, and policy influence. Central to this ambition is the Research Strategy & Services Division (RSSD), a new Professional Services department that is being established to provide a transformative and sector-leading approach to research strategy and support.

**Role Summary**

This role will be based within the Post Award Systems team providing accurate set up of newly awarded research projects within the Fusion system.

The post holder will work as part of a team of 5 Research Finance Administrators with responsibility for the set-up of approximately £200m worth of externally funded research grants and contracts per annum. They will be responsible for reading financial terms and conditions within contractual paperwork in order to set the project up within the Oracle based financial system. Tasks will involve setting up invoicing, claim schedules, partner payment requisitions, processing journals and setting up schedules for overhead recovery. The correct set up of newly awarded research projects is critical ensure that financial controls for research projects are robust and compliant with funder terms and conditions and therefore to maximise research income to the University.

**Main Duties**

Working as part of a team of Post Award Systems Senior Administrators responsible for system set up of externally funded research projects:

- You will act as a point of contact to provide accurate and timely information and advice to internal and external customers and stakeholders on University processes and procedures, answering queries promptly, providing guidance and resolving queries from initial contact to resolution.
- Regularly communicate relevant information to staff and external contacts for example the Principal Investigator on the project. Develop strong relationships with Pre and Post-Award teams to ensure smooth transition of projects between teams.
- Process financial data monitoring accuracy, chasing up missing information, and escalating any issues as appropriate. This will include:

- liaising with the award holder and other key stakeholder to ensure that prior to the project going live that a signed contract is in place, an ethical self-assessment has been completed, and that the actual project start date is confirmed
- reviewing the Funder financial terms and conditions to set up invoicing, contract deliverables, raising requisitions and overhead schedu
