Overview / Responsibilities:
The Training & Competence Advisor will support the management of Wood’s technical resource pool through the delivery of Competence recording and assurance services across the business, ensuring our workforce has the correct competencies and certification as mandated by statute, client, or internal standards to carry out their role safely.
- Support the delivery and monitoring of mandatory technical and safety training courses and certification.
- Ensure project and client specific competence requirements are achieved.
- Contributes to developing and retaining motivated and competent people, and to assuring the safe delivery of services by competent personnel.
- Drive mandatory training and competence compliance progress.
- Training Matrix compliance management, monitoring and reporting (incl. client specific reports).
- Support in the development of mandatory training processes.
- Develop standardised reporting on Competence data quality allowing for accurate analysis.
- Provide the business with support and advice on competence matters.
- Review training and competence frameworks in line with business and industry requirements and standards.
- Coordinate and support technical training and competence programmes.
- Support internal and external competence assurance activities including audits.
- Conduct training gap analysis.
- Run accurate pre-employment mandatory certification compliance checks.
- Monitor and manage exceptions and deviations to mandatory certification requirements.
- Monitor the renewal of expiring certification and initiate escalation where appropriate.
- Maintenance of Training & Competence Management Systems - training records data entry and competence portfolios.
- Manage and administer competence-related pay increments.
- Source external training providers, agencies and accredited bodies where necessary to meet legislative and industry standard.

Skills / Qualifications:
**Qualifications**:

- Typically qualified to ISCED Level 6 (Bachelors or equivalent) or has achieved a similar level of expertise through a combination of education and experience.

**Knowledge, skills and experience**:

- Typically requires some Training & Competence experience, preferably in a highly regulated process industry.
- Intermediate or advanced knowledge of MS Office, in particular Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage a high volume of work and to prioritise.
- Clear understanding of technical disciplines and associated competencies.
- Ability to analyse data and provide recommendations on findings.
- Capability to advise and support on training and competence programmes.
- Knowledge of applicable regulatory framework and associated legislation.
