**BCMA Public Sector EMEA - who are we?**

The BCMA Public Sector business serves many hundreds of public sector clients across 80+ markets in EMEA in both presence and hub-managed countries. We achieve this through a OneCiti model with the BCMA team at its heart, country bankers, CCOs and cluster heads located across the network, and product, risk and functions partners. The business has achieved external recognition including multiple industry awards as IFR Best Bank for Governments.

The leader of this business will believe passionately in the mission of curating the most effective and efficient financial solutions for public entities, and bringing best practices from case studies around the world. They will embed Citi as a trusted and responsible banking and financial services partner to the public authorities in each of our countries of operation.

The role of BCMA Public Sector is to raise awareness amongst public sector actors of the range of private sector financial solutions that can help deliver their strategic goals. We aim to demonstrate the value of Citi’s services, products and advice, and become a long-term provider of banking services to each public authority through the provision of solutions and the execution of key transactions. Citi’s public sector bankers are active in the public finance ecosystem participating in numerous international forums, engaging with advisory boards, industry associations and government advisory committees.

The role is EMEA Head of Public Sector BCMA which sits in the Corporate Bank. It is a C16 senior management-level position based in London, responsible for accomplishing results through direct management of a BCMA Industry team, and systems leadership of a wide diversity of partners across Citi.

The role requires extensive engagement internally and externally, developing and maintaining senior client relationships by understanding clients’ needs and delivering the best of Citi. It requires a strong corporate finance mindset and risk skills, and a track record of inclusive management and long term sustainable growth. The BCMA Public Sector EMEA franchise has clients across segments including central governments, central banks, state owned investors (incl. sovereign wealth funds), development finance institutions (DFIs), state owned enterprises, and non-governmental organisations (NGOs). These clients represent a significant share of Citi’s overall EMEA revenues with a commercial portfolio balanced between services delivery and episodic transactions. The role will have direct management responsibility and oversight for a team of C15 bankers, and a systems leadership responsibility across 150+ partners in country teams, products, ICM, Risk and franchise resources around the region. The role reports to the EMEA Corporate Banking Head (Mikkel Gronlykke), and with an active matrix report to the Global Head of BCMA Public Sector (Julie Monaco).

The industry team also provides significant support to partners in the network countries and in product areas. The team is in constant dialogue with the country bankers on their national public sector commercial agendas, as well as providing analytical support for teams such as emerging markets DCM through ratings analyses and credit positioning presentations. Alignment and prioritisation with internal partners is a significant part of the role.

The interdependent challenges facing the world today require private sector business and the public sector to work together collaboratively and adaptively to create lasting and sustainable solutions for a better future for society. The industry team members, located in London and Brussels, are committed to what they do and feel they can make a difference whilst delivering a growth business within Citi. The role therefore offers a unique opportunity and responsibility to work with all industry partners across BCMA as governments play an increasingly important role in most industries across the region (Energy, FIG, Tech and digital, Infrastructure, Defense and others).

**Responsibilities**:

- Develop and monitor a client driven franchise growth plan
- Ensure planning, coordination and oversight across the main Public Sector segments, e.g. central governments, central banks, sovereign wealth etc. This includes close coordination with the global public sector team in NY, and with other regional partners outside EMEA.
- Achieve alignment of the core strategy/ies with BCMA, Markets, TTS, Securities Services, CCB, Global Wealth Management, as well as ICM, Risk and franchise resource partners
- Understand and analyse regional trends to identify growth opportunities, anticipate obstacles and communicate a forward-looking vision that is responsive to changes in the environment
