The Head of EMEA M&A is a core role within Citi’s Banking, Capital Markets and Advisory (BCMA) business. M&A is housed within BCMA’s Investment Banking unit (IB) which provides tailored financial solutions and strategic advisory services on a wide range of M&A transactions and capital-raising activities including mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, financial restructurings, underwriting and distributing equity, debt, and derivative securities. The Head of EMEA M&A’s overall focus will be on successfully driving the M&A product penetration across EMEA sectors and countries within a well governed and controlled environment. The role is a key part of BCMA’s strategy to expand our share of the M&A wallet by expanding our focus and capabilities. It is a unique position for Citi.

The role will report to the co-heads of BCMA EMEA and the co-heads of Global M&A and will require fluid interaction, regular discussion and communication.

The Head of EMEA M&A is responsible for:
**Responsibilities**:

- Take responsibility for a number of existing clients, in addition to acquiring new clients
- Developing strategic relationships with the Board Members, Owners, CEOs, CFOs, Business Development, Strategy Heads of corporate clients and investment executives of leading Financial Sponsors and Asset Managers. Position Citi as a trusted advisor fully conversant across regulatory, finance, governance, designated industry or country coverage and complex strategic issues
- Ensure best in class M&A public and private transaction execution across EMEA
- Developing and lead pitching/marketing strategy for the group
- Managing oversight of the EMEA M&A business, driving M&A focus, governance and discipline across the EMEA sectors and countries (approve New Business, challenge fees/staffing, actively involved in Business Selection and reputational risk management)
- Directly manage M&A bankers within the team and indirectly manage & coach bankers across the coverage banking teams with a special focus on promoting diverse talent within the team
- Partner with Industry and Country bankers across Banking, Capital Markets and Advisory (BCMA) and across Institutional Client Groups (ICG) to formulate, implement and articulate a strategic growth plan
- Work with partners across ICG to ensure that M&A is originated as part of a broader solution alongside other Citi capabilities (financing, hedging etc)
- Develop and expand deep M&A coverage and capabilities across the region
- Partnering with the global M&A and regional teams to enhance cross-border co-ordination
- Manage projects to ensure business optimization and growth, execution of new initiatives, product expansion, target market initiatives, sales penetration, cross selling of client solutions across the country and coordination of decisions
- Manage, lead and develop M&A revenue, pipeline, expense, wallet and other metric targets for EMEA
- Drive and implement the EMEA M&A strategy to increase revenue, expand market share, deepen client relations and broaden Advisory delivery
- Partner with Control Functions such as Legal, Compliance, Risk, Audit and Finance in order to ensure appropriate governance and control infrastructure
- Build a culture of responsible finance, effective governance and supervision, expense discipline and ethics
- Maximize organizational execution of key initiatives and business review processes as well as drive operational and technology strategies needed to support the business growth and optimization

**Qualifications**:

- Extensive relevant experience
- Experience in people management
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or closely related areas of Business Administration preferred
- Master's degree in Business Administration preferred
- Experience working in an investment banking institution(s)
- Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication
- Demonstrated ability to remain unbiased in a diverse working environment

**Education**:

- Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
- Master’s degree preferred
