About the Role

The Scientific Computing Department (SDC) administration team are looking a strong Administrator to join our friendly, established group. As a team we are responsible for supporting Scientific Projects by carrying out a variety of task, from taking minutes, to collating and tracking budgets, to arranging conferences both on and off site.

This is a rewarding role where you will interact with numerous people daily from outside the team, and you will often work autonomously on your given tasks including:

- Web updates
- Source/book venue
- Monitoring registrations
- Booking catering
- Preparing conference packs/badges/signs
- Attend and support workshops as required
- Arranging accommodation and travel (both overseas and UK)
- Act as the first point of contact with internal staff, visitors and collaborators

To be successful you will need:

- To be highly organised, with the ability to handle a busy workload and to meet deadlines with the support of the administration team.
- Demonstrate relevant skills and expertise in working in an Administration role.
- To have excellent communication skills, both written and oral, good social skills and be flexible in your approach to achieving team objectives.
- To be able to prioritise your tasks successfully and demonstrate a proficient understanding of the MS Office suite (Word, Outlook and Excel), with an accurate eye for detail
- Be available to travel/work to support events and visit other STFC sites as required.
