**The Role**

We’re currently looking for an ambitious Environment Officer to join our talented Sustainability & Environment team based in Port Talbot. As part of the job, you’ll support the team in meeting the requirements in our Environmental policies, including compliance with permit conditions and relevant environmental legislation. The Environmental Officer will also facilitate continuous environmental improvement, in a technically robust and cost effective manner.

It's an exciting time to be joining Tata Steel UK, as we look to proactively develop solutions to achieve our Environmental objectives. As an Environment Officer, your responsibilities will also include;
- Establish systems for the effective management and review of environmental information
- Producing reports to communicate environmental performance to relevant internal and external stakeholders in a format that is clear and accurate
- Supporting the Sustainability & Environment Operations team in ensuring all permit breaches are notified to the regulatory authorities within the requirements of legal notification conditions.
- Consolidate TSUK findings from incident investigation (e.g. permit breaches), providing follow-up reports to regulatory authorities.
- Benchmark the current processes linked to environmental management and keep up to date with regards to technical & legislative developments.
- Conduct investigations into the causes of air quality (PM10) breaches. Liaise with works areas to gather information related to permit breaches, complaints, adverse local air quality etc. in support of investigations carried out by the environmental team.
- Work with internal stakeholders to support with the development and implementation of appropriate environmental procedures and improvement plans to ensure ongoing compliance with the statutory obligations and all other relevant environmental legislation.
- Undertake regular audits within the works areas, providing the necessary support and guidance to ensure identified issues are resolved within a reasonable time.
- Maintain a register of environmental legislation relevant to the business, drawing on updates provided from 3rd party providers.
