To work as a skilled practitioner within a specialist Child Death Review (CDR) Team.

You will be a member of the CDR Team and will ensure the provision of a high-quality service as detailed in the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for Southend, Essex & Thurrock (SET) and in accordance with Statutory Guidance and that the declared specifications of the Integrated Care Boards (ICB’s) are met.

To assist in the provision of high standards of holistic family-centred care supporting families who have experienced the unexpected death of a child and evaluate through feedback of the experience of the service from bereaved families and staff using this information to improve service delivery

You will work in partnership with agencies to ensure a co-ordinated approach with the process to support families when their child has died

You will support the team in prioritising and planning workload and be an expert resource for the multi
- professional team.

Applicants accepted from band 5 nurses who would like to widen their experience in a band 6 role for a year.

You will undertake, review and where necessary update protocols for practice for a Joint Agency Response (JAR), ensuring that protocol and response times are monitored and evaluated.

To collaborate with Designated and Named Professionals across SET to ensure that there is a consistent and co-ordinated approach to child death review practice across the health economy.

Training provision for all members of the workforce who are affected by the process. To provide expert up to date advice, training and supervision to appropriate professionals working with children on issues relating to child death review practice

Have advanced understanding of child care legislation, information sharing, information governance, confidentiality and consent, and be able to give advice to others on these

Organisation and representation at relevant meetings and to represent the CDR team on the Local Child Death Overview Panels as required.

Promote and facilitate good partnership working with all agencies enabling effective outcomes for children and young people

Ensure that performance data and supporting evidence for reporting frameworks is maintained

To participate in the dissemination of information and sharing of good practice and training aspect of feeding back lessons learned from any child death review, in a variety of educational forums, to all members of the multi-disciplinary teams across the health economy.

The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust (PAHT) provides a full range of general acute, outpatient and diagnostic services at The Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow, the Herts and Essex Hospital in Bishop’s Stortford, and St Margaret’s Hospital in Epping.

We employ 3,500 staff and serve a local population of around 350,000 people living in west Essex and east Hertfordshire, centred on the M11 corridor and the towns of Harlow, Bishop’s Stortford and Epping. Act as the keyworker in the delivery of bereavement support for families.

Ensure that resources on bereavement services are available including Signposting to community based organisations which reflect the diverse ethnic, linguistic and cultural needs of the population.

To work as a skilled practitioner within a specialist Child Death Review (CDR) Team.

Work closely with the Designated Child Death Doctors to implement the Child Death Review system and process (protocols, pathways and monitoring systems)
