Insurance Claims Officer

Full Time - 37 hours per week (Hybrid working - 2 days home / 3 days office based)

Temporary - 3 months plus

£18.19 per hour

Driving licence required

About the role

This is a great opportunity to join my client in their Insurance Claims team as an Insurance Claims Officer, where you'll be investigating public liability and motor claims, assessing liability and either repudiating or resolving claims as appropriate. You will also provide advice to the Insurance & Claims Manager on larger value claims.

They're looking for an enthusiastic individual capable of managing competing claims and customers needs and can demonstrate thinking outside of the box as sometimes claims management requires you to do this.

You will be responsible for liaising with staff on investigations including interviewing staff and obtaining written witness statements and producing written reports to summarise your findings.

You'll also need to attend flooding incidents (possibly out of hours), manage contractors to provide clean-up services, deal with customer queries and keep their Communications team updated. You'll be meeting claimants after flooding incidents to assess damage and compensation, where liability attaches. They're looking for you to negotiate with claimants and their representatives to settle claims, within agreed limits and then for above limits, provide advice to the Insurance & Claims Manager in relation to liability and quantum.

You'll be responsible for corresponding with claimants or their representatives, ensuring that the company meets required timescales, along with working closely with the company's legal representatives at all stages of legal proceedings. This can mean you may need to be in attendance in court to provide expert witness evidence in relation to company systems and investigation findings, and support other witnesses.

About you

To be successful in this role, I'm looking for you to have a proven experience and knowledge of procedures and statutory protocols for dealing with insurance claims, along with a proven experience of handling legal liability investigations, including assessment of liability and quantum. You'll also have a familiarity with Civil Procedure rules and relevant qualifications to the role.

I'm looking for you to have strong written and oral skills, along with a proven experience of providing accurate written reports on the circumstances surrounding incidents, along with the ability to confidently give evidence under oath on the findings of these reports where necessary. Good IT skills are necessary along with an ability to use technical systems.

I'm looking for you to have discretion and integrity in dealing with the confidential issues associated with claims, along with proven experience of dealing with difficult customers/claimants and you'll be self-sufficient and capable of working under pressure to deadlines.

If you feel you have the experience and would be interested in this role please sent your updated CV to:
