It is estimated that for every suicide it costs the local economy around £1.7million, therefore based on current suicide rate for Lancashire and South Cumbria of 555 suicides during 2018- 2020, the negative impact to the ICS economy is estimated to be in the region of £943 million.

The suicide prevention programme is well developed and has enabled this cross-cutting priority area to galvanise partners and move forward in a number of priority areas that were set on the Suicide Prevention Logic Model Action Plan.

The suicide prevention team support the real time surveillance alerts, management of the real time surveillance system (RTS) and support the ongoing development of the Self Harm and Attempted Suicide RTS system, using NWAS data. They are also a key part of the mental health team ensuring that the data is used in forums where suicide prevention is a part of the agenda.

Within the team is also the oversight of Specialised Suicide Bereavement Support services through AMPARO commissioned across the whole of Lancashire, enabling families bereaved by suicide to access timely bereavement support

As an Analytical Support Officer, the post holder will work as part of a dynamic

team in delivering an effective service supporting managers and staff across Mental Health and ICS.

To support the team with the analytical work that now needs to be completed including dual diagnosis, depression data and development of real time surveillance products.

To liaise with staff across the Mental Health system, including Commissioners NHS England, providers, local authorities and other emergency services

To ensure robust processes for data collection and effective validation are in place

To undertake the collation and submission of Bi Weekly reports, statistical returns and other reports, ensuring accuracy and disseminating useful conclusions and information within the Mental Health programme.

To monitor and track risks and issues with the data and be proactive in their resolution and escalation, working with Senior Managers, Team members and key stakeholders.

To work collaboratively across the Mental Health system alongside colleagues from provider trusts, third sector organisations, public health, local authorities and other NHS bodies to jointly develop solutions.

To work alongside the data team within the strategic clinical network.

To co-ordinate and supervise the data entry and reporting functions of administration and clinical staff.

To provide cover for colleagues as required.

To report issues which need management attention.
