Applications are invited for a Biomedical Support Worker post from motivated, enthusiastic, adaptable individuals keen to join a small but busy Human Research Tissue Bank (HRTB) team at CUH. Human Research Tissue Bank provide a valuable tissue service to researchers on the Biomedical Research Campus, nationally and internationally.

You will have a positive, professional approach and be keen to work as part of a friendly, highly skilled team. You will have good attention to detail, be able to follow standard operating procedures whilst working under the responsibility of the Team Leader. This is an essential position within the laboratory assisting Biomedical Scientists within the department on a daily basis.
- Collect and transport Tissue Bank specimens throughout the biomedical research campus
- Check, receive and accurately label specimens using the relevant laboratory information management system/s, Epic and Achiever Medical.
- Maintain consumable levels in Tissue Bank including collecting deliveries from Goods In
- Accurately file and retrieve paraffin blocks and slides for Tissue Bank and Research Support
- Prepare reagents and manage records.
- Monitor and record temperatures, fume levels and airflow readings
- Perform maintenance procedures on laboratory equipment including tissue processors, embedding centres, H&E staining machine and cover slipper following the departmental standard operating procedure and referring to the team leader as necessary
- Maintain a high level of cleanliness and tidiness in the work area
- Update patient and sample data completely and accurately in the relevant laboratory information management system (LIMS) to enable tracking and traceability.
