Matron Acute Care (AMU, AEC and Ward 29) Medicine and Long Term Conditions - Full time
An exciting opportunity has become available for a Matron post in Acute Medicine, leading the nursing team in the Acute Medical Unit, Ward 29 and the Ambulatory Emergency Care Unit. If you are you an experienced Nurse with a passion for high quality, safe, patient focused care and have the skills and experience to join the senior leadership team in Medicine and Long Term Conditions as a Matron this is an extremely exciting opportunity.

To lead as a visible nursing role model that can provide inspiration and direction. The matron will be supported to implement and introduce innovative practice and develop effective problem solving skills. Provide clinical and managerial leadership within their areas of responsibility, developing, strengthening and supporting the role of Ward/Department managers and the nursing teams. The matron will be a core member of the Care Group Team of Three, working closely with the Clinical Director and Care Group Manager ensuring demonstrable improvements are made and sustained in patient care and contributing to the wider Trust agenda. The matron will demonstrate expert clinical leadership in caring for patients within Medicine and Long Term Conditions, through comprehensive and holistic health needs assessment and the development, delivery and systematic evaluation of programs of care.
The Acute Care Matron will be a intergral part of the leadership team working with the divisional team of three and ED and AMU new build transformational senior leaders. The review and implementation of new patient pathways, recruitment, workforce modelling education and training will be high on the Matrons agenda so to ensure high quality, patient focused care.

Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust provides integrated acute and community Healthcare in the West Midlands serving a population of 260,000 residents. Walsall Manor Hospital houses the full range of district general hospital services. The £170 million development was completed in 2010 and we are continually upgrading. Construction of the new integrated critical care unit was completed in 2018, extension of a Neonatal Unit and brand new, state of the art Emergency Department is in the process of being completed.

As a Clinical Leader the matron will ensure the needs of patients are recognised and met by the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care across the Acute Care Group for admitted and non admitted patients. The matron will act as a point of liaison for multi disciplinary and multi agency working in order to achieve the best possible outcome for patient care. Will take appropriate action to remedy any deficiencies in service provision from other agencies for the agreed Care Group. The matron will provide strong clinical leadership, be a visible member of the team undertaking clinical shifts where appropriate and support to nursing staff within an agreed the care group (including any clinical nurse specialists and ANPs).
