**What you’ll be doing as a Risk and Assurance Specialist**
- To promote a risk and assurance culture across all contributors within the Leakage reporting process. Create a safe and constructive environment that encourages colleagues to report risks and concerns and to work together to solve problems.
- To record and maintain the risk register and incident log. Working with colleagues across the business to understand the impact and consequences of risks and issues.
- Prepare and present risks to senior managers, escalating concerns promptly and clearly.
- To maintain a catalogue of controls and conduct periodic testing to assess their effectiveness. Working with business areas and risk owners to identify gaps and target areas of weakness.
- To develop and embed standards and best practice procedures to improve resilience, consistency, and transparency of reporting.
- Track and monitor internal and external audit actions.
- Work with action owners to document and prepare commentary for year-end reporting.
- Hybrid - Clearwater Court, Reading. You will be required to travel to Thames Water sites 1-3 days a month, but this may change in line with business requirements.

This role does not require a driver's licence or access to a car.

**What you should bring to the role**
- Degree education or professional qualification in risk management, Institute of Internal Auditors, or compliance.
- Risk, assurance, internal audit, compliance background.
- Ability to question and challenge constructively with all external and internal stakeholders.
- Knowledge of producing audit and assurance reports to provide to external auditors.
- Knowledge of how to use Data processing and transformation tools - e.g. Power Query, Python, SQL.
- Awareness of Statistical methods, Modelling, and forecasting.
