**About you**

You should have successfully completed an Undergraduate and Masters degree in Sport and Exercise Science or a related health, psychology, sociology or science area with a focus on physical activity, health and well being. A proven working knowledge and experience of qualitative research methods is a distinct advantage, although not essential, as is previous experience of teaching or operating teaching and research laboratories in Further or Higher Education.

**Qualifications**

**Essential**:

- Willingness to obtain Professional recognition as an HEA Fellow (D2) or teaching qualification recognised by HESA, or a willingness to obtain within a reasonable timeframe

**Faculty**

The Science Subject Area at the University of Northampton is a large, collegiate and supportive department with an embedded culture of student focused teaching and high impact research. We deliver an extensive portfolio of undergraduate and postgraduate awards and are in a period of growth.

This is a particularly good time to join the University, as we achieved Gold in the Teaching Excellence Framework and all our undergraduate degrees in Sport and Exercise achieved over 90% satisfaction in the 2019 National Student Survey. Therefore, we have an excellent student experience which is important for us to maintain.

The University moved to our £330 million Waterside Campus in summer 2019 based in Northampton Town, which has excellent mainline rail and road links. Therefore, you will benefit from new purpose-built laboratories and research facilities, a supportive team and well established and sustainable links with our regional partners.

**About Us**

Come to the University of Northampton and you will see that we do things a bit differently.

We are one of the youngest universities in the UK but we are already leading the way in adding value to society, which we call social impact. We have won multiple awards for our work in this area, among others, but what matters the most to us is ensuring that our students and graduates have the opportunity to make their mark on the world too. That’s why we were the first university in the UK to be named as a Changemaker Campus in 2012.

We want to break the mould of what Higher Education can be. This has led us to build a whole new University from the ground up that is designed to reflect the way that students actually learn rather than the way they are expected to learn. Waterside Campus opened in September 2018.

Our commitment to transforming lives and inspiring change is at the heart of all that we do.

**Right to Work**

**Equality**

The University of Northampton is committed to providing a vibrant, ethical and sustainable work, study and living environment that values equality, diversity and inclusion.

This commitment, along with our legal and moral obligations, provides an inclusive environment for staff, students and the public who may be affected by our activities.
